We keep hearing about BYD but this video should scare the hell out of every U.S. car maker especially Tesla. Little long but their strategy is incredible

A few weeks I came across this opinion article about BYD, I read it and was impressed with BYD.

There is some stuff about "The Innovator's Dilemma" in the article. I checked into the author to see if he was credible, not only is he credible, he studied under Clayton Christensen at HBS and is now the "LEGO® Professor of Management and Innovation at IMD

How long before a deal is struck between a Chinese and American carmaker that satisfies the privacy and national security risks, but licenses the technology? That seems a worthwhile endeavor.

Isn’t this what we are hoping for with Scout though. An innovative company that treats their employees well, provides good benefits, child care, etc. I really am counting on them to show other companies how they can make an excellent product all while treating their employees and customers with respect.
I’m mean they are already showing how it’s done with this forum. Is there any other car company that is doing this? Interacting with the community like they do? I can’t think of one.

Apparently, classic VW Beetles are one of the easiest to convert cars.
Regarding BYD, I'll probably come back to this thread with more to say later. For now, I've got not so online things to do.

Good news reminder.... With Scout, we have the JV with Rivian.
Can't think of a better domestic tech partner to get this flywheel spinning. Hopefully the partnership pays dividends for BOTH Scout & Rivian, and we can keep innovating & competing domestically. Even if the US fails to reward its own domestic stewards of innovation and opens more doors to foreign competition in the short term, smart companies like Rivian & Scout will have an opportunity thrive in the long run.

I've said only partly in jest, the best thing we could do for Chinese auto workers and US auto industry would be to fund the UAW and AFL-CIO to setup shop in China.
It would be great if UAW and AFL-CIO and other unions were strengthened in the US too. The human rights abuses by massive companies in the US aren’t all that different from China’s issues.
I'm not sure how I feel about unions these days, I'm pretty out-of-touch... Back in the '80s and '90s I saw an awful lot of misuse of union power in the automotive industry and it soured me quite a bit on the UAW. Hopefully it has changed.
Sadly I was not aware of companies still abusing human rights in the US - guess I live under a rock... That should be remedied.
Have seen any specifics? I k ow Farley was enamored with the xaiomi. But I thought all that stalled over job and security risks.
