Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
If using the resources of the Germans to set up the plant and production line I suspect things will go better than expected. They think everything through.
Heard a funny joke last weekend. When looking at a glass of water that is filled half way is the glass half full or half empty?

Neither-it’s over engineered, the glass could have been half the size 🤣. I work with engineers so I found this hysterical and laughed out loud because it true. But in the case of the SM production capabilities I hope this holds true so any/all obstacles are quickly dealt with, adjusted, calibrated and put right back on to task

Interesting spare tire mount solution for jeeps from Excessive Industries. At about the 12 minute mark you can see them putting in the mount and then loading up the tire.

Had a Bug - or at least a vehicle that started as one. It could hit 55mph (downhill, with a tail wind). I don't think it would be doing long tows with that trailer, at least not quickly.
My parents had one before our scout. It was brown but I don’t recall much about it. My parents looked at another when I was 15 (1883). Was an early 70’s model I believe. Not my sister has a vintage beetle convertible. To the point I’m amazed that beetle held up to that. I think long term that beetle would have sustained a lot of damage

Very tiring. VW does not own Scout - VAG does. Honestly, if VW dealers win, I would prefer that Scout never, not in a cold day in hell sells a Scout.

Now VAG owns International Motors (same as VW) - and International Motors have an existing network in the US. And honestly, they are just as worthy of selling a separate brand under VAG as VW dealers are. Make all the actions direct through Scout - and let them press the button and get a couple tiny commission to do it. Oh, and we could then have International Scouts...

Agreed. I just think it’s funny the as a parent group introducing SM, VW instantly thinks they should get it. I wonder legally if VWAG group could say no existing dealership may buy a SM franchise? Or have a “lottery” for 40 new dealerships for a cost of $5 and you get a laptop, licensing agreement is MSRP (over and you lose all allocations for 6 months and you get $5 per transaction-OH, and bummer, all the winners we pulled are Scout employees-darn, sorry stealerships

Yep, I have previously mentioned the idea of International truck dealers being the network if that becomes a must. I even offered for Scout to use my dealer license. No news yet🤣

Probably why in the mix of Scouts Motors reveal, VAG decided to rename Navistar to International. They are probably getting ready to adjust the plan if needed.
