Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
New York state is (weakly) looking out of automobile customers and working to ban some nonsense subscriptions.

"No manufacturer, dealer, or agent of a manufacturer or dealer shall offer to a consumer a subscription service for any motor vehicle feature that: (1) utilizes components and hardware already installed on the motor vehicle at the time of purchase or lease by the consumer; and
(2) would function after activation without ongoing cost to or support by the dealer, manufacturer, or any third-party service provider."

It’s great they are doing that but I think if a manufacturer wants to piss off their potential customers that should be their right. I don’t think they should be able to blackmail a buyer after the sale by treating to turn things on and off if they were available at time of purchase. If it’s there-it’s there and if not, it isn’t. But if BMW wants to piss people off-go nuts, just no Bait and switch

I find it pretty funny on how everyone flips out about that oil because it’s from old sea beds, and bones and plants. But yet phosphate is the same thing. Just not in the form of oil yet.

Seems like EVs and ICEs are pretty similar. But one burns, and the other just loses battery health and performance over the years. And the other gets worse fuel mileage and emissions when not taken care of.

The difference is that a 33.7 kWh battery can last ~30 years and can be recharged via solar, wind, or other sources that don’t require the burning of fossil fuels. And afterward, the lithium and other cathode materials can be recycled at ~99% efficiency. And, at least for EVs, the efficiency of a vehicle using that energy is significantly higher.

The 33.7 kWh in a gallon of gasoline is burned once and gone and the byproducts of burning a gallon of gasoline are left in the atmosphere for a damaging amount of time. And it can take up to four additional gallons of gasoline to put that one gallon into your tank.

Not to mention an EV will go a hell of a lot further on 33.7kw than any ICE on a gallon of gas.

At they risk of being harsh, I find it funny that you could possibly think ICE vehicles are equal to or even better for the environment.

That is true in some sense. But luckily we have a big beautiful ocean that actually cleans 30% which is a decent amount of the CO2. And Trees clean about a 25%. Of human made CO2. Just wanting to put that out there. But yes EVs are better for the environment. Besides the child and slave labor in countries that are mining the resources.
