We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. The Quad is cool but here are the things I don’t like:

For being priced at $135k (Launch Edition) there isn’t enough difference between a base R1S/R1T to distinguish it. If I’m spending that type of money I would like some different bumpers, maybe a rear spoiler, unique wheel etc. secondly, the brakes are the same even though they added more HP and Torque which is not good. Lastly, Thermal management was not changed which is weird but I guess it’s because they know consumers won’t be driving it hard every day. The only highlight for me was the Kick Turn and Tuner Mode

That’s a better option. You really don’t need the same power as a Corvette ZR1 in a family SUV. Luckily Scout is letting us customize our Scouts from the factory.

Rivian R1s Dual has 533 horsepower and a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds. Just to put this in perspective, that's the same 0-60 time as a 1990 Lamborghini Diablo....in a family car.

I think I would spend a bit more for the Tri but then again there are many things on the R1 Twins I don’t like. I have driven the Gen 1 R1S and did a video on it and I was blown away by it.

I think Tri is for people that will actually go offroad on moderate trails occasionally. The torque vectoring in the rear would give you similar performance to having a rear locker. Not really hardcore, but would attract the same type of people shopping for the TRD Pro Sequoia.
 
At some point EV's will have Horse Power and torque regulations. Due to road damage for not only weight but for the amount of torque they have that gets put down. Same reasons why race tracks have to be resurfaced every few years.
Texas is full of 3/4 ton diesels that weigh just as much as a Rivian R1S and make the same amount of torque as the Gen 2 Quad, and I never hear people talk about them damaging roads.

I also highly doubt everyone is launching their EVs in Track Mode at every stoplight on their way to drop the kids off at school.

Most of these EV manufacturers really dial back torque unless you put it in a specific mode.

Feeling pretty skeptical about them causing as much damage to roads as some people seem to think.

I have brought up that exact same point before. You are absolutely right about the weight and torque. Hell, a gas Suburban weighs 6000lbs. To make matters worse, if you are in South Carolina like I am, those same diesel trucks are often deleted as well and spew black smoke.

I would be launching that thing every day, every stoplight.

I launch all my cars now. Even my truck.

You don’t hear people talking about them because the roads are built for them. And their torque isn’t as instant as an electric vehicle. I’ve driven a fair amount of heavy diesel.

The hell they are! haha

There are plenty of roads out here that get massive potholes from cattle trailers and guys dragging 15 bales of hay to their pastures on a gooseneck flatbed. The roads are definitely not built for it, but they eventually get repaired and life goes on.

I mean if you drive like that i can totally see why you think they would be banned or regulated. Thats a literal self-fulfilling prophesy.

People in America already have a negative view of EVs so I think its irresponsible to feed into those narratives, but you do you.

Again, you arent getting all that torque unless you are in specific modes. Almost everyone I met with a Rivian said they launched it a lot for the first few months and then drive in normal mode when the thrill wears off.

I get why some people delete them. The repairs can be prohibitively expensive and they have a lot of issues if you own a diesel one ton as a status symbol that never gets worked hard enough to burn out the soot.

But they could at least add a high flow cat as a courtesy to everyone else. I hate being around diesels when I ride my motorcycle here because the raw exhaust makes my eyes and nose burn. A high flow cat wont cause any major performance loses but it will make them less offensive to the people they share the road with.

I get it. I am in the tractor and construction equipment business. In addition to the equipment, we have diesel trucks for service, and delivery. I understand the challenges of modern diesels with DPF and DEF. They are an imperfect solution at best. What bothers me is exactly the type of people you mention with diesel trucks that are personal/commuter vehicles that are deleted for all the wrong reasons.

Tell that to I-287 here in Jersey. Its roads buckle every time there is heat. It’s never been kept up with until sinkholes happen.

I also brought up Amish buggies destroying roads and they don’t pay a damn cent in taxes. It should be a level tax for everyone. We have a sect of Amish here that use metal mesh wheels on their tractors and drive them on the road. Can only imagine the damage that does on a 90 degree summer day
