Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I didn't realise that Tesla deactivated radars already installed on existing vehicles. This is a interesting test showing camera based only autopilots shortcomings.

Really Bad on Mark, used to like him but that's shady not activating autopilot but creating a full video about it.

Alot of new Jobs opening on Scouts Careers site.

Didn't he use autopilot on the tests? The first one he did it with the one where the driver has to act and it hit the kid, but then he did it again with the autopilot and it stopped. He said he would use the autopilot on all the rest of the tests.

Yeah after the first test he switched to using Autopilot on everything because its far more conservative.

Not until right before he hits the wall, then you hear the chime come on. Or at least I think so. I could very well be wrong.
He posted an unedited version of that impact on his twitter, and it looks like he accidentally grabs the steering wheel right before the impact with the "wall" so technically speaking he disengaged autopilot. However, even if Autopilot was working AND detected the "Wall" it would not have been able to stop before making contact with the wall.

Overall it was not a very great test environment considering his N < 5 for each test lol. But at the same time showed a fairly horrible series of results for Autopilot and vision based systems.

Yeah, and the LiDAR was better. My 3 had it…it could see through horrendous rainstorms where I visually couldn’t see road markings, etc… the camera update was a rude change. Even now the cameras don’t do everything promised. One of the advertised perks were that it’d see speed signs, even temporary construction ones. Hwy 13 up here is 65 mph, pretty regular postings, yet autopilot will max at 50 and I have to depress the accelerator to override. Usually cameras do okay but def not as good as LiDAR was.

No such thing.

Honestly, I fully support the Tariffs. Being able to manufacture a car cheap in Mexico and Canada and then charging the crap out of the American Consumer is moronic. I think making it America and charging a fair amount is way better than having to know the rip off that's happening. I can't wait for them to go back in place, and for the pause to be undone.

Top Five Mexico.jpg

it is approximately $1,500 to $3,000 cheaper per vehicle for Ford Motor Company to make a vehicle in Mexico versus the US.

Why would the companies not just charge more for the vehicles?
Exactly, make them here, and the consumer will buy them for slightly higher prices. And less transportation has to happen with the vehicles.

or what they will do is they will send a bid out for cheaper cost of material, could have slightly lower quality or it could be higher quality.

I wonder how long it would take to ramp up that much production. I am referring to not only the factories, but the employees too. And how long for vendors to relocate or change logistics. My quick guess is 3-5 years. I would also assume we are about to see used vehicle prices go up as well as I assume demand for them will go up as new vehicles will be more expensive and harder to get. That sounds familiar.
