Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
FWIW, thanks to the fact I don't watch live TV and I have YouTube ad's free - I have not seen a single advertisement for Scout. The only ads I see these days are when I click on an embedded YouTube link and the video starts without logging into my account. I avoid that most of the time. But I have not gotten any random Scout ads that way either.

I see a lot of their ads on Instagram and Facebook. The comments are quite entertaining. Apparently, Scouts are "rebadged Rivian's", "pieced from Chinese parts", or are "EV junk". Also, Scout should just "give the people what they want", which apparently is a death trap'with a manual transmission, a diesel engine or V8, and a removable top.

Yeah. I go down the rabbit hole on the FB Scout ads sometimes. Crazy how closed minded people can be about EV’s

I start to realize that my life is very atypical at times like this.
  • I am not on Twitter (yes, I know its called X now), but it will always be twitter for me.
  • I am not on Facebook
  • I am not on Instagram
  • I am not on Ticktock
  • I don't watch "news"
  • I do not watch cable/broadcast TV
  • I use Adblockers
  • I don't use personalized ads on anything
  • I often "shop online" in private browsing sessions, so advertising cookies don't track.
  • I only watch youtube videos from private browsing windows, so I have no video browsing history/etc for youtube to suggest adds from.
In retrospect, the funniest part about this for me, is that my gut reaction to this (after all that above) is still "what marketing campaign". But then I think about it, and its not that surprising. For me to notice something, it takes a LOT.

Turns out, I have quite large blinders on, or maybe its actually a tinfoil hat ? :P.

But really, I worked internet security as an intern, and saw enough behind the curtain, that I just try to limit (within reason) what I'm freely giving away to the internet.

Remember that the original Scout annual production averaged around 30k.

It does and it doesn’t. It’s a gauge of interest more than anything and it’s a talking point for someone who finds it and word of mouths it to two or theee other friends. I know of three people who paid the $100 and signed up because a friend of their’s was a friend of mine and they know my excitement about the vehicles and shared it with the others. I’ve also mentioned it to an acquaintance in the building industry that’s just starting to look at going EV for their fleet vehicles.
This is early stage/grass roots efforts so while a refundable deposit may not indicate sales it allows SM to gauge potential sales orders based on some statistics formula they are likely working from.
My bigger question is how many of us reserved 2 vehicles with likely intent of only purchasing 1 and are the double reservations factored in to SM’s conversion equations? I reserved two only because my dad has been talking about a new car but wants to wait a year or two. My parent’s Scout became my first car so I think it would be cool if my dad and I both bought one so that’s why I reserved two.
I love this idea! You guys taking delivery at the assembly plant together would be an awesome experience for the family!

Thanks. He’ll be 84 though so I’d be scared to have him drive from SC to PA. His driving is starting to slide but maybe he could come down with me to get mine then his could be delivered to home ?

Fair enough. Man, what a great memory to experience and document and be able to pass onto kids and grandkids.

I ordered one of each, to keep my wife from taking control of my Terra! And i'm not kidding. bought a hybrid maverick for myself, wife commandeered that within 3days. bought myself a honda ridgeline, she got ahold of that within a month, and gave me back the maverick - so this time - I'm getting ahead of the curve!

That's how I ended up with my Wrangler. Husband bought it, I slowly took it over and when we moved from California to Illinois I told him you know you get the 328i and I am taking the Wrangler right?!? He didn't last long with that 328i, traded it in on a Miata and then that went for his 22 Supra, which I also steal from time to time. Wife perogative. HA!
