Colorado Event

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Oh I love that addition. I plan on discussing the absurd price upcharges that come for limited supply vehicles (when dealers, for example, charged consumers thousands extra for the early Broncos among other vehicles). I can certainly see where dealers can be helpful when supply is plentiful, but especially early on with Scouts, there won’t be enough vehicles to have the dealers compete on price—and it makes it more likely that dealers will charge over MSRP.

You are correct. Of course that is one of the main points to NOT using Dealers. Even the word Dealers has a negative connotation.

I stopped by the event when I was doing some running around for work. The vehicle looks great in person, the orange color really pops. Man is it big/tall. I'm 5'7" and the front hood hits at the top of my chest. Interior looks beautiful.

I was however a bit disappointed in the organization of the event. I knew the intent was really to focus on the legislation, which didn't seem particularly obvious aside from a table off to the side that didn't have someone manning it. It wasn't very busy, I'd say there were maybe 15 people milling around when I went in the morning. However, it was not super obvious who was a "staff" member, or anyone greeting when people walked up to orient to what was going on/what to expect/what's allowed. I'd guess there were 3 Scout reps standing around talking to people. I walked around for 10-15 minutes and no one said anything to me. The three staff members were still talking to the same people that they were with when I walked up when I left 15 min later.

It's great that enthusiasts get the opportunity to chat about their passion with the staff, but it made it tough for anyone else. There was one guy walking around with a polish cloth, didn't have noticeable Scout affiliation otherwise. The back was closed up and I wanted to ask if they were able to open it. I tried to catch ANYONE's attention and couldn't, so I asked another attendee standing around if she knew if they could open the back. She's the one who pointed out the guy and I had to really try to grab his attention, he seemed to be avoiding eye contact, lol. I was very polite and asked if it would be possible to see the back open. He just walked over and pushed buttons, didn't say a word or ask if we had questions.

Maybe I had the wrong expectations going into it, but it would have been great to just be greeted and given a 20 second elevator speil of what was going on. Regardless, I appreciate the team getting the vehicles out in person, it was awesome to get eyes on it.
I hate you had that experience. The Traveler is really good looking, but I agree it is really big. Maybe a smidge too big.

This actually gives me pause. Granted this is a concept car and it's on some big wheel off road package so it can look amazing (which it does), I hope it's not something you have to crawl up into and/or hope regular versions will be standard SUV height.

BTW - I used the provided link to send a letter to my reps. I also added to the template, speaking about consumer choice but also how mandating dealerships is a terrible legislation of Land Use resources. We all know affordable/attainable housing is a hot topic in Colorado, especially at the state level, and highlighting that requiring dealerships is requiring irresponsible and sprawling land use policy in urban areas might add a little punch to the argument!
That’s a great angle!

I'm aware. It is also fairly close to the Rivian R1S. I was at the reveal and was a bit surprised at how big it is. A little nip and tuck would be great for my intended purpose.
I actually have the dimensions on a sticky note on my desk comparing it to my current BMW iX. The Traveler is 4.1" shorter in length (no tire carrier), 9.57" taller and 2.45" wider. The width is the main issue. I have a very tight driveway and it might not work for me. I would guess that the height may come down a bit as the concept is on 35s.

Same here. It’s the width. Even just a couple inches less would make a big difference. I keep looking at cars like Tahoes and even minivans etc when I’m out and about to get myself used to the size.

I really want 35s. Don’t need them but really want them. I’m hoping when we build out our Scouts someday on the website it will give exact dimensions depending on the accessories we choose. Roof racks, tires etc.

That’s roughly about how much larger it is than my Countryman but not at all smaller lol. But I’ve stood next to a Bad Lands Broncos it had after market suspension and they weren’t too tall on me.

I also wonder if it’s larger because it’s a concept, which most concepts tend to be larger than what they really are. But @Jamie@ScoutMotors are the concept production size or no?

Or a doggie ramp, as I walk out to my Wrangler to see how tall it is.

The prototype is on 35s. So if the tires are smaller I would assume it wouldn’t be quite as tall.
Figure an inch and maybe the prototype has a bit of extra suspension but figure it won’t be more than a couple of inches max

Bigger than I originally wanted but knowing it’s the size of our pilot I’ve grown to like that size. Biggest SUV I’ve had as a daily driver was a Toyota Highlander so something Yukon size will be good from my point of view

I’ve spent 20 years as an architect helping with planning and my biggest struggle is wasted land use. Like the big box stores that won’t use an empty warehouse half a mile down the road. So glad you do what you do and glad you took that angle. As we continue doing neighborhood planning with aspects of new urbanism it would be great to merge things like the SM experience buildings with a restaurant space attached or a Starbucks (can’t believe I said that) but something that brings another industry’s patrons in contact with SM while also providing a place to hang out while charging. New trends like food halls and mixed use businesses could work in DTC scenarios as well.

The downfall with a couple inches is then the proportions get blown and the stance no longer looks as amazing! 🤣

Once I realized it was basically the size of the minivan I got as a dealer loaner I was fine. I was able to get that thing in my garage.
