Bigger frunk

We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

From the videos I've seen online. The frunk looks a bit small. It doesn't look big enough to fit luggage. I thought the purpose of a frunk was to give extra storage. Having the frunk as a seating area is fine but more front storage space would be optimal.

Rivian Frunk easily holds 12 XL pizzas (and keeps them warm) above the false floor (there's more storage underneath the pizza deck)

Pretty sure the Scout frunk will have more cubic space available:

Definitely room in the Scout for some additional 2-litres, and garlic bread sticks 🤣
 
There are size comparison graphics around this site. The size of the front bumper-to-door of the Scout Terra looks to be nearly the same as that dimension of the Lightning. Assuming that, the dimensions of the frunk are likely to be very similar. Some photos make it look like the Scout frunk might actually be deeper.

Fun fact (that I just looked up).

The F150 Lightning has more storage space in the frunk, than a Honda Civic Sedan has in the trunk (by 0.7 cu ft).
 
A fully-grown adult (me) climbing into the Lightning’s frunk. I realized after the latch closed that I usually have my phone with me so I can open the frunk with it if I can’t find the emergency release button. It all worked out okay this time. Please forgive the several seconds it took for me to find the frunk button.

I’m confident the Scout frunk will be plenty big for my needs.

The production version will be different in a number of ways but similar in size/capacity. The front lip will be higher to accommodate the front radar sensors. That most likely means the pull-out seat tray may not make production. Finding places for everything becomes really difficult when we need removable bumpers that can withstand impacts offroad and meet crash standards.
I’m gonna need to see a rendering of this, this can throw off the entire look.

I did. I had a job running, so could step away from the computer for a few minutes. :)

Well, this is hilarious, and excellent. I approve of this. Glad to share a community with people that think like this (and I mean this in the best way possible).

There is one potential downside for you though.

You may have to become the official measuring stick of frunk space. And... you might have to do the same thing with a Scout in the future, and uh, compare the experience :D.

Maybe I should have said "downside"? :D I agree, I'd bet for a good chunk of forum members, that would be considered a high priviledge.

You can be the Pre-Production human measurement unit, and SM can fly you out to all of the events, and you can do important work like:
  • Lay down in the back of the Traveler with the seats down like you're camping on purpose.
  • Lay sideways on the seats in the back seat, like you're camping on accident.
  • Check to see exactly where a tow hitch would leave a bruise on your shin/knee/leg with the offroad package if you forgot it was still there and walked around the vehicle confidently at night
  • Time yourself to see how long it takes to retrieve the key, or your phone when you drop it between the seat and the console because you're horribly unlucky that day, and (probably) have hands larger than a toddler.
  • Reach from the drivers seat, to the passenger side rear seat floor area, to get something that flew off of a seat/console in a goofy turn, and see what sort of gymnastics you have to do/what sort of chiropractor you need to visit afterwards.
For my part, I volunteer to sit in the seats while covered in mud and sweat, and see how well the frunk handles keeping sweaty mountain bike gear in it for a while. Its a thankless job, but I'd do it if needed. Because I'm dedicated.
