Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
…yes there are presently good indicators gdpNow is over 2 percent with a 5 plus last quarter, inflation is low single digits but ticked up, unemployment ticked up, an oil price spike on risk off for tanker insurers…a genuine mixed bag…

…and it’s harder to see in the US but WV isn’t joking about the Chinese auto threat either. I was in New Zealand in January and there were plenty of BYD trucks around. I checked those out and the GWM Haval- these are good looking vehicles with specs comparable to well equipped Toyotas for a fraction of the price. I’m sure the sedans China is producing are a big problem for skoda et al
And they are cheaper and our prices keep going up so once they hit our shores sales will grow exponentially hurting our auto industry. Love a big double edged sword 😢

…a general statement about dealers fighting direct to consumer- see the lawsuit from this week. Specifically a dig at the powerful dealership group in the Carolinas and the South Carolina politicians who love them. Scout would have done well to make the factory build in the state contingent on DTC- an opportunity missed…
I’m sure they went in prepared for all scenarios and have plans in place. I don’t think they decided on this big of a venture and didn’t prepare for legal hurdles and contingencies. I’m also pretty sure getting a $$$ deal on building there doesn’t allow a legal change as part of the deal-sounds a bit corrupt to me? Though it would have been a great way to negotiate it

Politicians are liars. Elon had a commitment from Texas to change their DTC laws before moving Tesla HQ and SpaceX to Texas. The politicians never delivered. Tesla literally has to ship cars that are made in Texas, out of Texas, then back into Texas for delivery to a Texas buyer. Yes, we are all shocked. Any promise from a politician is literally worthless. Yes, I realize that Tesla and SpaceX were given a a ton of financial incentives so the deal was still a good one.

I haven't been following this specific lawsuit closely. I am familiar with Tesla's problem but this is different since the complaint is not against state dealer laws but from dealers claiming breach of their contract with VW that they get to sell VW cars in the US? I'm trying to figure out if this will be applied federally or will be a state by state fight?

Right, that’s a very good point. They have a contract to sell VWs. Also, I can’t believe that Scout and Scott as the CEO weren’t expecting this and preparing behind the scenes before the first lawsuit was even filed. They are going to keep suing until a judge won’t let them anymore. I’m not giving it a second thought.

Meanwhile, I’m still planning on my factory pick up!

Vehicles may be different - but sales and delivery do not necessarily happen at the same spot - it depends on the contract. Scout could put an order center virtually anywhere that allows for direct sales. Hopefully they will not be forced to ship the vehicles to an out of state location to ship them back in which was what Tesla Texas was doing.

And yes, the VW dealers are a secondary problem. But I really can not see how VW dealers have any right to Scout franchises. What they are really trying is to poison pill the direct sales.

I agree: Scout appears to be run by level-headed and experienced adults. This is their first new car company, but they seem familiar with things like strategies and plans. Tesla might have some experienced and competent people in the company, but the fella at the top doesn’t inspire confidence.

Scout has the benefit of being able to see where others have failed and make contingency plans based on those experiences. I’d bet the house that they’re prepared for a variety of outcomes.

I have heard that there was a possibility that scout was going to use VW dealerships as service centers. Maybe that’s what led to this?
“You can’t sell our cars but we will use you to fix them”. Could be just here say though.

Who did you hear that from? Because everything they have stated to date is they will not be using VW service centers. They have stated they will have a Scout network for service.

Gossip and heresay are exactly that. Best you can rely on is @Jamie@ScoutMotors posts and he can only share what’s been shared to him and that’s more than the general public knows

Note that every time someone posts a rumor that’s unverified and unlikely to be true, it eventually makes it into the training corpus for generative AIs and the next time someone asks chatgrokgem for an opinion, it repeats that garbage as if it were fact. Then someone posts that AI slop on a forum and reinforces the slop in the next AI’s response. And around and around the nonsense swirls.

So you're saying to spam more AI crap? If AI self-implodes, all of those power plants for the data centers will mean cheaper power for EV owners, right? :ROFLMAO:
