2025 NYC photo-measurement requests

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Man I can’t get over this interior. I haven’t loved an interior color since my moms 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the Saddle brown interior.
It’s too dark for me but the combination and color tones are super nice. 10 years ago I’d have been jumping on this interior. It was noted some of the piping details likely won’t make it but as of now-the upper/lower two toned seats are planned for production. And the brown brick red (or whatever color they are calling it) is fantastic. It’s more red than terracotta and not as in your face as a normal red leather interior. It is a fantastic combo and the design team really nailed this one. Just a tad darker than I would like

7. Engine for erev location will be about 2 ft in from bumper in the back underneath well protected with skid plates etc.
That jives with the engine being nearly over the rear axle. The rear axle looks to be about two feet in from the bumper on the Traveler. It’s about 4 feet from the rear bumper on the Terra.

Oh yay. I love the two tone and glad we will have options for that. Coming from all black interior for so many years I am looking for a lighter two tone.

My thoughts exactly. Glad to hear it, too. I was worried it’d be vulnerable hanging out in the back.

High clearance rear bumper here I come!

Probably nothing new here for vets like yourselves but figured I would share just in case…. things discussed with Scout personnel after my trip Downtown:

1. take heart for those hoping for a few bright colors. One person all but told me to expect a yellow shade which has me grinning from ear to ear.

2. Rallye will come in more than that ghost decal. Expect white, expect black. They want this thing to be as customizable as possible.

3. not new but late 2027 production which means most likely mid 2028 delivery.

4. they will begin taking info on your build well before they start production. I was told late 2026/early 2027. When you get yours will depend on how many others are similar from a foundation standpoint (harvester, traveller, etc.)

5. Tire carrier will only come with off road package and the BIG tires.

6. bench seat will have ability to fold down middle and give you storage, etc. similar but not the same as the standard two seater with console.

7. Engine for erev location will be about 2 ft in from bumper in the back underneath well protected with skid plates etc.

8. They will have multiple interiors to choose from. Again really customizable.

9. third row coming “a few years” after initial release.

10. workshop will be very close to NYC. Reservation holders will b e invited to test drive before they start taking info on our builds EDIT: forgot to mention that planning for workshop sites will be based on reservation critical mass. So if Des Moines Iowa and surrounding area has 50% of reservations then you can expect them to get a workshop sooner. Between that and city centers (“there’s a reason they came to NYC” was the exact quote) will see workshops first.

11. Inside cargo about 4 ft deep. Back seats fold flat to give you about another 2 ft. Enough to fit a twin size inflateable mattress inside.
When you say inside cargo is about 4’ deep, is that to back of 2nd row? I think @J Alynn mentioned 37”, which is more like 3 feet.

I’m really curious about this one since my goal is a much better cargo situation for bigger dog kennels and traveling with dogs + gear. My RAV4 is already around the 3’ mark and just doesn’t work great for that purpose. Would be really disappointing to be increasing my overall vehicle size this much from my Rav but having minimal change to cargo depth.

My depth was back of second row seats to hatch door and my bad, it was 3’-7”. Apologies-I transcribed it wrong when I posted. Checked my notes again. And it was 4’-2” to the widest side to side. That came directly from Jamie. He measured since he knew I wasn’t going to be able to move the seats/fold them (not sure if they actually even technically fold 🤣

Like I mentioned before for the door handles I would much prefer matte finish over gloss black but these don’t look that bad. Really liking accents. I also like the photo you took of the door jam area. The way they sculpted it is so nice
I like the shape, etc., but that glossy piano black look is a no-go for me. I would ruin that within the first weekend.

Every little detail is very well thought out and executed. It shows that they were still looking at the vintage scouts but since starting from scratch why not do it differently.

Thanks for clarifying!!
