  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Don't forget. If you have solar, you could eventually be MAKING money. If you have free charging at work, your math can be totally skewed. And if you split expenses with your wife and she's the one that pays the electric bill (and you own the EV), well, that's good math too. ;-)

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Oh yes, I would pull RTF in there if there was an opening... Or, off the end of a bank of chargers to reach one (if possible).

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Not a fan of Elon (at all), but have never NOT been able to charge at a Tesla DCFC (probably to your point that they simply have so many stations at each site that when 1 is down, you do not notice it). EA on the East Coast tends to have something like 4-6 stations at each site I'm guessing...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

One thing to add here... There are chargers that also have adapters that are "built in". For example, Tesla has DCFC stations with Magic Docks: https://www.tesla.com/support/charging/supercharging-other-evs#magic-dock My advice would be to look at your typical driving patterns, run a few of...

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

Got it. Looks like that is also the case with Rivian after some digging around: "the heat pump is the new primary heating method in Gen 2, with resistive heating retained. This is the same approach most other EV makers (Tesla, Kia, etc.) use with their heat pump systems."

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

You mean Scout Motors actually expects reservation holders to be reasonable & thoughtful humanoids?

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

Yes, correct, all still TBD until we see it from Scout as part of a spec: https://support.scoutmotors.com/en/articles/10035000-what-battery-size-will-scout-vehicles-use

Usb ports on top of dash

I love those rear seat toggle buttons, but not sure that they would survive 1 month in my truck in that location. I wonder if they actually make production like that ,TBH. My fear is that one ski boot or work boot could take those suckers out as fast as a set of Charlie Mcavoy's chicklets.

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

That leads to the next question... If you are an OEM adding a heat pump to an EV (maybe looking at current EV's on the market that already have them - Gen II R1's being one example), do they also have a separate resistance heating component for components like seats & steering wheels? I believe...

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

Sorry - thought I mentioned that it was Claude... Didn't spend much time overthinking my prompts, but did ask to unbias results by looking at real-world examples (lightning, R1T, etc) when considering data parameters for the analysis. Yes, resistive would be the alternative I suppose, but I...

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

So, the more I consider the Terra BEV (and my location in the Northeast) the more I am drawn to a Heat Pump as a required component for my next EV truck. I honestly don't think it would eliminate any DCFC charging stops that I would normally need to take on my winter trips, but it could...

#4 Reservation spot for sale (?)

Dear Friends, my name is Ndugood. I am a wealthy Nigerian prince who loves the jazz of music. I am seeking your help to move $200,000,000 from my checking account here in Nigeria to the United States . I too love the jazz of music and am planning to flee to America to open many jazz clubs at...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

And like you are throwing energy away and money out the door when you hit friction brakes in an ICE vehicle!

    Off-topic stuff…

I don't think the humanoids possess that quantity of antiprotons (thankfully), or we might be looking at the possibility of someone turning our planet into a wormhole.

    Off-topic stuff…

That thing looks like a hydrofoil! They could probably run it in reverse and suck it to the ground! LOL

    Key Fob question

Yes, mine also... Because sometimes the key to a tricky situation is a bit more power. But I use Snow Mode all the time and prefer less regen and more pedal modulation in those situations. Still 1-pedal, just less regen force.
  18. R1TVT

    Key Fob question

Regen will also be one aspect of specific drive modes that you can enable easily (like OFF-ROAD MODE for example). Here you will likely see higher regen as part of a number of different settings changes: ride feel / damping, ride height (if AIR), regen, throttle characteristics, locker, cameras...

Poll: Would you use a Scout configurator tool if pricing and details are not finalized yet?

Just the opposite. Each phase of development is intentionally designed to "help the cause". Scout needed to have early, physical representations of their 2 vehicles that could be seen, visualized and used at key events (like their LAUNCH EVENT) - it is certainly helping their cause. There are...
