Northeast Florida could be a pretty interesting real-world test for the Traveler

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
No, not normally. We have an entire team of people dedicated to testing and validation. They take the vehicles from rugged Alaska to Death Valley to private test facilities with everything from snow, ice, heat, boulders, mud, sand and more. Eventually we will take them to Moab, Rubicon Trail, Black Bear and loads more. The vehicles get tested from 130+ degrees heat down to -60 degrees in an indoor environment as well. VW's own test track facility has been used already. This is an older video as the facility has expanded a bit with extensive offroad test areas as well, but it give you an idea of some of the testing that is done:

That makes total sense, and I definitely wouldn’t expect consumers to replace formal testing and validation.

What I was thinking about is probably more on the customer-use side once Scout gets closer to launch. There’s a difference between proving a vehicle can survive Death Valley or the Rubicon and seeing how it actually fits into someone’s everyday life for a few weeks or months.

Family use, beach gear, surfboards, SUPs, salt air, highway driving, charging habits, what people love, what annoys them, and what questions come up from people seeing it in the wild.

In a high-interest market, there’s also value in the vehicle simply being visible. A pre-production Scout showing up at the beach, school pickup, a local event, or a busy retail area is going to create conversations and curiosity in a way a static display can’t.

So I’m thinking less engineering validation and more real-world ownership, market feedback, and organic awareness.

Either way, the level of validation you’re describing is pretty awesome to hear about.

Wish I remembered the thread it was in but we went down quite a rabbit hole on this idea a while ago. I feel like I suggested regional locations where a SM team goes week to week for 52 weeks (OK-51) and spends a week in every state with a selected forum member and they drive their region/state on a forum determined route through the state. Not sure how sleeping and food would work, or maybe forum members accept 50% of cost or find cheap lodging /camping as part of the experience. Then a year later SM releases the documentary. Would be a cool opportunity. And as we selfishly do, I’ll thumb wrestle for PA week. Philly/Lancaster/little Grand Canyon/the Burgh/Poconos and must be fall for a PSU tailgating experience and fall foliage-we may lose in games but the stadium experience is second to none 😆😢🤣

And what about this guy... @Scout948 ?
in this thread

Appears he committed to join in the community discussions more frequently, but vaporized afterwards.

Same here on the Rivian. Love so much about it mechanically. Cannot look at the front end without throwing up a little. However my 15 year old son thinks they are the coolest and was fishing for an R2 when he turns 16. Not going to happen but maybe when he can afford one on his own he'll get one.
I agree on the Rivian. My nephew works at their Palo Alto facility and I’ve asked him if he’d have a word with the design team. So far, no joy. I have to say that I’m generally not a car guy, but the Scout Traveler/Harvester really appealed to me. I am eagerly awaiting our opportunity to place an actual order.
