I’m runn

I’ve been running DuraTracs for 35,000 miles. I do believe I will get 50,000 miles total out of them based on how they look at this time. I have been very pleased with them. Especially the one time I got a giant screw in my tire and went to the shop thinking I needed a new tire because it was kinda close to the tread edge. Nope. They just pulled it out. Said it didn’t penetrate very far and off I went.

Have you been in your buddy’s vehicles who run KO3s? If so how do those compare to the DuraTracs.
I have not actually ridden with any of my buddies in their KO3 equipped vehicles. We did have one who was an early adopter of those tires and he praised their on road manners in his posts on our club forum.

I am bummed they stopped making the MTR Kevlars. They are beautiful tires and do a fair job offroad with good on road characteristics.
Goodyear offers a military discount and I tried to order some recently, and thats when I realized they stopped offering them. Was pretty bummed.

My GX470 needs a new set of tires and I was hoping to slap some of those on.

Added a new poll option for the Terra Grappler G3s for you.
Yeah I was bummed as well. Forced me to replace all four tires at once instead of just one or two at a time as needed and I decided to finally move up to 37s which then also required new wheels.

Okay I’m not quite sure where to put this. Here’s seems as good as any. Okay tonight when I was walking the dogs I saw a new 4Runner Limited trim. I did not like the tires on it at all. I mean ruined the whole look for me. The tire is too small for the size of that vehicle. Way too much open space in the wheel well with that size tire. Do not like.

I’m really hoping we get to see a Traveler with a 33” tire soon. I hope it doesn’t look like this.

Did the spokes protrude out past the rim/rubber as well? Perfect way to destroy pristine rims when the curb jumps out at you

Well, the good news is that you can put any tire you want on a truck (that will fit), so I'm not hung up on tires at all - especially based on what we have seen to date with the concepts. Also, there will be more efficient options (like you see on the 4-Runner) and less efficient options (bigger lugs / more sidewall). Lastly, there are more tires that are now optimized for EV's specifically - including A/T's.

I’m conflicted on this myself. I expect a 33” tire on the Terra will look dorky, but I want every mileage advantage I can get.
Oh the last few days I’ve been having an existential crisis. I’m all in on the BEV, but man those 35s and then I saw that 4Runner. My Scout can’t look like that with that gap. No can’t do it.

I would like to see one with 33s on a regular setup. That will really help me make my decision.

Okay, the stock Dunlop on the newest 4Runner is 31.7" according to TireRack. The forums are saying a 33" tires is the biggest you can go without modifications, so only a 1.3" overall gain, give or take. If the Scout can fit a 37" tire, and comes with a 33" tire, you're looking at enough extra wheel gap for a full 4" of extra diameter. I expect the result to look like the picture below:

I also think part of the issue is the fender is squared off at the corners and it’s not rounded. If they had just rounded it I think it would look better.

More seriously though, for a better comparison:

More on point for the thread, definitely no all-terrains for me, only mud tires. I've tried a number of ATs, but they all suck for my use (BFGs, Nittos and Mickeys). The mud tires give me the traction I need off-road, and with the typically softer tread compound, give me better cornering on-road. I'm just hoping for a vehicle load-rating that doesn't force overly heavy tires on me.

I love my DuraTracs I’m just assuming that with not be great for range.

I'm happy to see the Terra Grappler G3 is not getting many votes. I have the G3s on my Grand Cherokee right now and have found both their on and off road performance to fall short of the Ridge Grapplers I ran previously.

Have used KO2's for years. They have been a decent compromise. Fairly quiet, decent ride, ok mileage, don't get stuck on wet grass.

Have KO3's now on one vehicle. Tire guy said they were working better on some trucks. I think the prior problem was that people (boys) were putting on the wrong load rating tires on their trucks and having problems - Apparently KO2's for 3/4 tons (and heavy loads) were a lot more common than the ones for 1/2 ton or light load vehicles. I tow a lot, but rarely fill the bed heavy - but always custom ordered the correct KO2's for that job.

FWIW, never had any problems with the KO2's on my wife's 4 door jeep.
