Bench or Bucket Seating Poll

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I fell under qualified to vote here. I think my actual decision will be made after I can see them in person. I really would only want the bench seat for the dog since he loves to be right in the middle, but that's only a few dozen times a year, and even my partner said I should go with a full console, but again, I'd like to see them in person, with functionality (so not necessarily the concepts), and see what all features are lost/gained with the bench.

I would love to have the bench seat but it really depends on how comfortable it is. I've sat in some good ones and I've sat in some that feel like the bleachers at a 2A high school.

I said in the other bench seat thread every truck I’ve had has had a bench seat, and I don’t intend to change that. I look at it as the ultimate versatility to have 6 seats available, and I use them surprisingly often.

The bench as a nod and throwback are awesome but it’s basically just my wife and I now and very little archery so buckets will easily suffice for is

Uh, just you and your wife? That's one of the biggest draws of a bench seat!! :ROFLMAO:

I definitely want the bench, but ultimately, if I can't get it as a heated and ventilated bench, I might go with buckets.

I’m in this boat…

This is an area where I lose the thread. I grew up in the 70's/80's and front bench seats were the norm. I hate them. Most uncomfortable, waste of space thing I can think of in a car. In fact one of the "cool" things when my dad brought home his 77 SSII was the front buckets! But that's just me :). If rear captain's chairs were an option I would consider it, but would probably keep the bench back there, in case of an extra passenger. I'm glad there are options

I have no interest in a bench seat unless it also comes with a fold-down center console that doesn’t spill with it’s flipped up.
I don’t remember anything suggesting the rear seat will come as individual seats.
I haven't seen anything about rear captains chairs either, but figured I'd throw it in to see if anyone was wanting them.

I don’t think it’s been responded to by SM but the rear passengers captains chairs might be a nice option. I’m sure when 3-row comes to market that will have second row captains for sure

6 Passenger for sure. The extra flexibility is super helpful. My parents have had a 6 passenger truck since I was in high school, and we use that extra seat all the time, and I don't personally see any downsides to the bench (with the flip down console) vs just the normal console and 2 chairs up front.

The width being full size truck "ish", is what makes the bench viable. Even if a bench was offered on my '97 ZJ, I wouldn't have wanted one up front, as you'd simply be too squished to really do much more than very short drives like that at least with my body proportions.

This is very circumstantial, but for me a possible downside to the bench is losing the phone chargers. I carry two phones and need them for working, and safety. The design and convenience of the phone chargers we have been shown with the console would be perfect for me.

Sure, I hear that.

I'm operating under the assumption that the center bench seat will have a functional console when the seat is folded down and not in use. Which means that the phone charger/cupholder/etc situation will be "annoying" for those times, but in my case, the 6th seat is not really a "all the time" seat, its more of a "in case" sort of thing, so those sort of short term inconveniences are not a big deal to me.

Because its better than stranding a kid at soccer practice, or grandparent at the airport :P.

Also, I wouldn't be too surprised if there was some sort of dash based USB ports/charging situation for this purpose as well. But we'll have to see.

We’ve seen usb ports on the dash, but I ware out cables fast in the car, and find wireless charging far more convenient when it’s an option (and cooled) I know the bench will fold down, but I really need to see it in person once they have a production model to get a better understanding and make a choice
