The Chinese car market, much like Hyundai was in its infancy is so good at stealing elements from several manufacturers and merging them together. But now there is a diesel hybrid so if they bring it to our shores it should sell like hot cakes

I guess because Chery does not intend to sell where the Scout will sell and Scout will not sell outside the US and maybe Canada it does not qualify for a "trade dress" lawsuit. That is how and why Jeep sued Mahindra for their Roxor looking too much like a CJ.
Looking at that it makes me wonder did they just ask AI to make them a truck. Honestly. Nothing creative about it.
I keep thinking the same thing with most new Chinese vehicles. They just asked AI for a blend of different vehicles and picked the result they liked the best. To be fair, it's not a bad approach, and I've seen MANY AI-vehicle renderings that look better than most new cars on the road.
