From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. It’s nearly impossible to precisely predict when production and delivery will happen in a venture like this, even for the well-established manufacturers.
And what I think keeps getting lost here is that SM wants to get our Scouts into our hands as soon as physically possible. There’s nothing nefarious here, but we all need to remember that there was never a plan to deliver a large number of Scouts in 2027. Since reveal it’s been production to begin end of 2027, ramping up in 2028 and years after.
Will some of us on the forum get a delivery in 2027? It’s possible, but 2028 is much more likely and that has nothing to do with any supposed delay. That’s how it always was going to be.
If they do EREV first, what’s going to be the delay if an EREV reservation holder locks in an BEV instead?
The real reason I’m asking this because we don’t really know are place in line, but if scout intends to do one power plant first over the other they would presumably use what we’ve reserved to select the order batches. Or they will plan to deliver x-amount of both per batch

My understanding is there will be a point in time where we are expected to "lock in" our reservations which will help guide that!
Locking in means giving up that refundable money, so it easy to assume we won’t all lock in at the same time but rather in batches, at least early on, and those emails would be sent out based on reservations, starting with travelers and those might be 70/30 power split, but then once you get that email you have to confirm what you want and place your order for production.
The main alternative that I could see would be one’s production starts everyone hands over that refundable $100 so that will not be able to come back to us and we confirm the model and power that we prefer with the options to then be decided later in terms of production batch
My question is is there more of a deposit that needs to be left when you place your order? What did Rivian do in the early days?
Otherwise couldn’t you place an order and not follow through because it’s only $100 you would lose.
I'm not sure what side of the fence I'd be on this, but it would be interesting to see them have an additional $ lock in for your vehicle.
$100 refundable puts you on the list to receive either.
+$500 locks in your choice and reserves your spot in line (moves you ahead of the initial reservations). This would not be refundable (but would credit to your final cost of vehicle).
