Scout Concepts At LA Auto Show, November 21-30, 2025

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I did hear that the Cabana top option is in question.
Cabana roof is still in the works.

I hope the electrochromic roof gets reconsidered, though I realize take rate might be low. Especially on a BEV, just seems more intuitive than mechanical shade, w/ no moving parts, etc. Perhaps it gets developed/offered now that Audi is in the game too?

I suspect in that case it would stay an Audi option only to keep it as an upgraded luxury item. I just think the take rate is so very minimal for the cost of that feature. I’ve had electronic sunroofs fail (to the point of lemon lawing it back to manufacturer so less moving parts would be nice but the premium I just struggle with

Just to level set are we talking electric roofs that open. Or the electrochromatic roofs like in a Rivian that are clear and you push a button and they go opaque? I think the OP is talking about a fixed roof that goes opaque and J I think you are taking about a roof that opens but I could be wrong.

Yeah that's exactly it. I have no desire for a roof that opens in any way, and in a BEV I have no desire for a mechanical shade or other moving parts. So electrochromic would be perfect combo of fixed roof + natural light. Alternative would be steel roof, which would suffice.

But if developed for Audi and dimensions are same/close enough, perhaps Scout might offer it? But yeah, take rate likely very low due to cost.

Marketing images of electrochromic glass are misleading.

We investigated it for a window in our house. But decided the milky discoloration was not what we wanted. I suppose it might be okay for a vehicle roof.

Nice images. Yeah I wouldn't want to look through it but overhead would be fine - I don't look straight up while driving very often... and of course steel roof would be acceptable alternative.
