What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
While I have grown to appreciate several such controls with my Toyotas, I'm reluctant to ask for too many of what could be considered "frills" on a vehicle which is trying to hold down the price and come forward as much a "service" as a "sport" UV.

One on my Tundra is only half there = all windows up/down. You can open all the windows on a hot summer day so you don't have to enter an oven when you get to the truck, BUT they forgot about when you look out of your bedroom's window as it starts to rain and see that the truck's windows are all open. Pretty much every app based remote action that I can imagine would need a paired 'reverse' action.
When I moved from Idaho to mid-Missouri 20+ years ago it took a little time for me to learn to roll my windows up every time I leave the car, particularly at night.

Does anyone know if I can tether an iPad to Scout’s navigation?
There are “magic boxes” that allow casting from an Android device to an Android Automotive / Android Auto capable device, bypassing the safety features that restrict the kind of apps that are allowed to display on an automobile’s screen…

I don’t know if any such thing is available to iOS users.

If Scout doesn’t use Android Auto or CarPlay, then it’ll likely require additional effort.

100% yes!

Actually I have no idea but it feels nice to see a yes response to a request.

But at one point I wondered that myself. And since it is more tactile and less electronic screen I’d like an optional 6-disc changer just to throw it old school every now and then

I still have a 6-disc changer laying around somewhere. Am seriously considering installing it in the Lightning. I have paid for so much music over the decades that I’m super tired of paying record companies to stream (it costs data) that same music even though the original artists have been decomposing long enough they’re almost crude oil.

You have to send pictures if you do.

I'm not sure I understand - what do you mean by "tether an iPad to Scout's navigation"? What is the use case? Are you trying to display something on the Scout infotainment screen? Are you trying to "take over" the navigation screen with something other than Scout's own navigation app?

Ok Scouts,

Our interface designers and engineers are looking for some more feedback from all of you and this time it is on:

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

- Jamie
Not just Scout but any new car I want the favorite features of my past cars, so those are:

  • Heads up display (Had this in Chevy SS, Wife's Telluride and its best safely feature IMO keeps eyes on road)
  • Apple Car play (use it every time we drive not just for music and maps but other apps with audio on phone too.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and lane centering (helps on those 700 mile drives from CA to Utah) [Blue Cruise or Super Cruise would be better but this is minimum for me)
  • Standard safety features (backup warning blind spot, auto stopping etc. which you can turn on/Off)
  • Heated Seats (I really want just the back as I'm old and it helps with back pain)
  • Cooled Seats (helps living in the desert)
  • Remembering Previous Settings (only mention this because my current commuter car resets on every start and its annoying, I already want to sell it for this small annoyance) [Be really nice if they were tied to key, phone or user some how]
  • Over the air updates (even newer gas cars have this now)

Those are the main ones, my wife is 12" shorter than me so having our own settings makes it easier to switch drivers on long road trips. most cars store just seat settings etc, it would be really nice if it was alot more. Radio, Nav etc. all settings set for the current driver. Could have an SD card or something to store them in.

Also when I buy a new car I compare in Excel the top features with competition and usually buy the one that crosses the most boxes for what I consider. In 2022 I compared the Jeep Rubicon and Bronco badlands and endedup getting a Badlands because of ride comfort and drivability. I usually drive to where I want to off road. Still there are a lot of things I wish were better on the bronco, but only had one competitor at the time.

Cheers,

Your thoughts mirror mine almost exactly. Lower back heating is a godsend
