What about the charcoal grey from the first TR Traveler?View attachment 18043
I changed the color to make the entire body match the roof. Much better in my opinion.

Gotcha. The perspective is not so much about "vegan". Cattle are a major land and water use issue. Additionally, they are a major methane producer. Now, of course, if the animals are going to be used for beef, surely use the hide as well for leather. Sheep are actually a better alternative for grazing, they can be sheared for wool, they produce beautiful merino leather when they die and mutton is pretty good.I'm not an environmentalist by any means, so forgive my ignorance on the subject, but what's wrong with animal-based leather if it'd go to waste otherwise as a byproduct of the meat industry? With tanneries going to more eco-friendly tanning, I'd assume it'd be a more better material than the plastics and industrial processes for creating a whole new material, whether from plants, or recycled materials.
I understand the vegan approach, wanting nothing to do with animals, but from a waste/environment perspective, is real leather that bad if we're not breeding cows specifically for that purpose?
I will not participate in making gray body color Scouts. No ma'am!What about the charcoal grey from the first TR Traveler?
I agree! I meant the roof. What if the roof were that grey instead of the body color. I absolutely do not want any shade of grey!I will not participate in making gray body color Scouts. No ma'am!
Do that color in the street version, and I'd see a ton of these driving around the area where I live.
Because you’d back into garage? Just curious why. Also wondering because wife’s is front passenger and scout is rear driver so one of us will need to back in. Have yet to figure out ideal spot to place the chargerWith the unfortunate placement of the charge port in the rear, it would mean not being able to get into the back cargo area of the vehicle when it’s charging. That’s a huge negative to us.
Have no fear. When the Chinese lantern flies reach your state they will wipe those all out. It is their favorite and they DESTROY themI like the invasive tree/wood idea a lot. We've got a lot of insidious Tree of Heaven from China around here, but the wood isn't that pretty. Still, a smooth grain with some stain would be decent looking, and if it meant cutting more of these horrible trees down, I'd be game.

I also like the corten steel idea, but I think the minimum steel thickness required for that to work properly is too thick to be usable in the Scout.
Yeah-not my favorite eitherLike the idea, just not that grain as much as some of the others.
As a neutral I have this now noted as choice #2
Oh, we've got plenty of them too! The news says to squish them, but failed to mention they jump and fly if you get close. There's a certain amount of irony that the invasive bug is killing the invasive trees. I'll likely be cutting all of those trees down this winter anyway. No reason to tempt the lantern flies with my nearby maples and walnuts. Hopefully they'll just leave and go find some more Tree of Heaven elsewhere.Have no fear. I’m not sure they even have to name them and would prefer they don’t. Hoping this is just internal name since this is urban feel and next to the mountainJeep has used the name Summit in various events and vehicles for years, so that would be a no-go. Still, lots of creative ideas available and I'm curious what naming schemes they end up with.
The more I think about this the more I like your point. I hope that the Scout is ubiquitous. I hope that a base model will look just as good as a fully loaded one. They need to be universally accepted and appealing no matter the demographic. Naming the models or trims gives them hierarchy and an air of exclusivity. That is not what Scout is all about.I’m not sure they even have to name them and would prefer they don’t. Hoping this is just internal name since this is urban feel and next to the mountain
How would the soccer mom in the school pick-up line tout that she had the most premiumest model though? The more I think about this the more I like your point. I hope that the Scout is ubiquitous. Well, that is fine for other vehicles. I certainly hope Scout is different. Funny story about that scenario. I did a heavy spruce up/light restoration on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ about 2 years ago. One of my co-workers bought it for his wife. She likes it, but was starting to think she wanted something more modern. Then school started and the thumbs up and positive comments from the other mom's and dad's completely changed her mind. She still has it.How would the soccer mom in the school pick-up line tout that she had the most premiumest model though?
Seriously though, there are some serious keeping up with the Joneses vibes in my suburban area and I know the school pick-up line thing is real. I personally agree with you 100%, but also recognize there are plenty of people that buy the badge purely for bragging rights, moreso as a vehicle gets more expensive.
Front passenger side is def where the charging port should be. In your case it sounds like one of the cars will have to back in. Or, there used to be lots of talk of mounting a charger in the ceiling, maybe with the plug on a swing arm to reach anywhere. Anyway, it appears in this case Toyota got it right (eventually).Because you’d back into garage? Just curious why. 2000-2001 were the best XJ years in my opinion, good choice!Well, that is fine for other vehicles. I certainly hope Scout is different. Funny story about that scenario. Regarding the leather itself, I agree. The products used to treat and tan the leather have come a long way. They problem is moreso the cows themselves.Speaking second hand here, so I may be off-base.
The main criticism against using natural leather in products is that the chemicals used to process the material and the by-products of the leather makers was a significant source of pollution. Prior to the US EPA's Clean Water Act (1972), leather tanneries and manufacturing plants would dump untreated toxic byproducts into the ground and waterways. While the law stopped that, it took a long time and a lot of government money for the cleanup and environmentalists have a long memory.
