Definitely thought about it. Practically, not sure if it would work having to swing the big boy out to put stuff in especially if in a tight space.

From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

That rep told me “there will be an up charge for that.” At least a dozen times. And when I read your post, I heard her voice. Country as cornbread in an iron skillet.They had to roll this version out so they could upcharge us for the spare tire carrier!
I wonder how much it would cost to create a seperate panel centering the plate for models without the backpack so that it doesn’t look like we got the poverty level trim?
Or does anyone have a large 3D printer?
With the unfortunate placement of the charge port in the rear, it would mean not being able to get into the back cargo area of the vehicle when it’s charging. That’s a huge negative to us.
I like the invasive tree/wood idea a lot. We've got a lot of insidious Tree of Heaven from China around here, but the wood isn't that pretty. Still, a smooth grain with some stain would be decent looking, and if it meant cutting more of these horrible trees down, I'd be game.
I also like the corten steel idea, but I think the minimum steel thickness required for that to work properly is too thick to be usable in the Scout.
Like the idea, just not that grain as much as some of the others.
Same, and for me it’s not a lean, my feet are firmly planted in this camp. Now the new one has a name, Mountainside. Maybe I missed it but does this one have a name? If not she needs a name.
She may not be my preferred color, but she sure is pretty. Even better in person.
I haven't seen a name other than "Trail-Ready" - so you're right, there needs to be a name. Since they went with Mountainside, I wonder why they didn't go with Summit...
Or maybe they have a name picked out but there were last minute trademark issues...
Jeep has used the name Summit in various events and vehicles for years, so that would be a no-go. Still, lots of creative ideas available and I'm curious what naming schemes they end up with.
I am not totally opposed to the license plate being offset. It is somewhat unique. But, I hear you. I like symmetry too.
My $0.02.... I like the look with no tire carrier. I was heading that way due to garage size limitations but now I am definitely going that way. I do hope there is some kind of option for a spare tire.
I can go either way on the roof rack/rails. I have rails on my WK (Grand Cherokee) but only use them once/year when we get our Christmas Tree. Could easily run the twine through the rear windows.
I like a smaller wheel and taller sidewalls for curb protection but do not need an AT tire - they are loud and bad for range. Hopefully they give us several options here.
I like the glass roof. Sun shade would be nice but Tesla has never had them and I haven't missed it (and I live in Oklahoma). Being able to pre-cool the cabin makes it a non-issue IMO.
I am not a fan of brown in any way shape or form. I'm hoping for a metallic dark (but not navy) blue. The grey on the off road version is nice too.
For the interior, that wood is too busy for my taste. I prefer carbon fiber for trim. The roof carpet is also too busy for my taste. I do like the seats though (I can't see the busy pattern when I'm driving). I like the reddish leather on one of the early models.
I do want real leather. As a point of order, real leather is the item that is sustainable and renewable (we can keep growing new cows). "Vegan" leather (also known as vinyl) is made from oil so it is neither sustainable nor renewable. It is also not as strong as real leather. Car companies have moved to vinyl purely because it's cheaper and then greenwashed it so people do not realize they've been duped.

I hear you about the leather and agree with you on most of your points. Yes, many vegan leathers are just vinyl. But, many of them are not petro-based. There are plant based leathers. I also like recycled content. Keep the ideas and opinions coming. Scout is paying attention.
I changed the color to make the entire body match the roof. Much better in my opinion.
I'm not an environmentalist by any means, so forgive my ignorance on the subject, but what's wrong with animal-based leather if it'd go to waste otherwise as a byproduct of the meat industry? With tanneries going to more eco-friendly tanning, I'd assume it'd be a more better material than the plastics and industrial processes for creating a whole new material, whether from plants, or recycled materials.
I understand the vegan approach, wanting nothing to do with animals, but from a waste/environment perspective, is real leather that bad if we're not breeding cows specifically for that purpose?
