New Scout Traveler Concept Added - Mountainside Theme

We now have another Scout Traveler concept alongside our existing Traveler and Terra pickup truck concepts. The theme for this new Traveler is called Mountainside. Whereas our other Traveler showcases what an off-road-equipped Scout can look like, Mountainside shows a more urban and clean approach. It shows the Traveler for the first time without a rear tire carrier, no roof bars, a panoramic glass roof, 22" wheels, brown/black paint, and a stunning leather, houndstooth, tweed, and wood-accented interior. She may not be my build, but boy is she pretty. This shows how versatile the Traveler can be. Do I spy a glass roof?

Yes, agreed, not for me, but sharp & very clean!

I can't tell, but did the silver bits on the bumper and chin get grayed-out? If so, that is great touch. I would love to see that on the Terra, too.

I may need to dust-off my ascot and smoking jacket for a test drive in this refined looking rig.

(EDIT: I would take the interior all day on the Terra)

eh maybe with the carrier, but I compare this one to something like the Bronco's Outer Banks trim or Jeep's Sahara. So maybe 60% a little too high. 35%

Oh, here’s the Blog story. It’s on both the new builds!

The wheels on the Mountainside are the wheels that were on the Pacific Mist Traveler.

After seeing this I’m still 110% tire carrier, aggressive tires and wheels and a color (PBY perhaps).

This build looks like it has a glass roof. Now I need to see this in person because that’s the one thing I’m back to 50/50 on. I really don’t know.

Love that they are thinking outside of the box.

I really like this theme and it's likely closer to how I would outfit it than the offroad theme. I have my 2006 Wrangler LJ for my offroad needs so my Traveler will be for around town and hopefully for towing the LJ to the trails.

I've been wanting to see a version without the tire carrier ever since the original launch. Was mainly curious how the design team would handle the look of the tailgate. I think they did a great job, but I'll have to see both in person before making a decision one way or the other. How exactly they handle the spare tire situation will play in to it as well.

Hey @Jamie@ScoutMotors, is there any thought being given to a retractable shade for the glass roof? I love the glass, but I know how hot my current vehicles get during the summer when I don't have the shades drawn.

Oh and I'll need some kind of cross rail on the roof since I need a place to get my surfboard to the beach.

This is way more like what I want! No roof rails and no tire carrier! I am not 100% on the wheel offset. They seem a little bit too wide. But, that might just be the pictures. I really like the interior except the wood. It looks like plywood to me and is way to busy for an otherwise beautiful, subtle interior palette.

Is that because she’s on 35s? This is the wheel from the Pacific Mist Traveler so it’s a 22 with a 35. Just looks like a street tire this time around. Would having a smaller wheel/tire package bring it down a notch so to speak?

Agree. I like a much simpler wood grain. I initially thought this was the hemp again. Just too busy for my tastes

Me too. My husband and I were just discussing that. I’m going to go drive a Wrangler with that one touch roof again. That’s the closest thing out there to the cabana roof.
