Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I sometimes wish I was ok with the interior of the Rivians. I like so much about them... other than "everything related to the UI and things I touch inside the car".

I'm sure the secondary market will be hot for a while, but I can't imagine it stays that way for long, as simply... this is a mass market vehicle. The whole point of this thing is to sell a lot of them. So they shouldn't stay all that exclusive for long.
Exactly. If yoh are doing that you have to hope you don’t get stuck with a car you didn’t intend to keep or having to sell it at a “loss”.

I feel the same.

I have an invitation to order, and if I felt like we had the cash and could really sell it for more than we pay otd for it, we’d consider buying it and putting it up for sale. Several years ago I wouldn’t even consider doing such a thing.

But these days, with the economy what it is, I don’t have much compunction about it. I just don’t think the demand will be there in 8-12 weeks. I guess I should have done it a couple weeks ago when it could have been delivered by now.

Can't wait to see a first responder Scout...

This just popped on my LI feed from Atlanta Fire and Rescue. Makes perfect sense. Nice build too:

Toyota dealers had a deal to provide San Diego lifeguards with trucks, which anybody who visits a beach in peak season would likely see

When I went looking for a link I found out that Hyundai recently took their place

In part this was to convert to EVs gradually, and the city is still looking for a truck that can operate while partially submerged in water, according to the not entirely reliable SDUT.

Could be an opportunity for Scout Motors, I'm just sayin'.

More info on the Atlanta pickups

We talked about this very early on and it certainly offers exposure. I also caught an ad the other day that Bay Watch is coming back so could be a future there as well

I saw this yesterday too, but its from a super cool upfitter company here in Atlanta called Patrol EV https://patrolev.com/ that is trying their hardest to get EV's into emergency fleets. They've made some really cool highly purposeful, useful, examples with Tesla and Rivian already. You can even get the vehicles built with varying levels of ballistic protection. Unfortunately, the adoption of EV fleets has been slow here, but there are a few starting to pop up.

When BMW opened their SC plant, they provided the SC state troopers with some BMW M5's for patrol cars. You did NOT want to mess with those. I can definitely see Scout doing something similar with their forestry service or something.

Awesome! I've been waiting to see this comparison. Quite interesting as well actually, I thought the Slate was going to be smaller than R2 not the same size! But the thing I took from it the most, was a Slate with a lift kit on the AT's would be a good bit taller than R2. This bodes well for me being an R1 owner since I opted out of R2 because of the smaller height and sitting position in it. With a lifted Slate I might actually find the happy medium to play around with until my Scout gets here.

Um okay so how exactly does pet mode work in a Tesla? How long will it keep the AC running?

I listened to the news report associated with this. So granddaughter leaves grandma in the Tesla on pet mode and is gone for an hour! At some point the AC turned off and it was 100 degrees outside and the door are locked and can’t be opened from the inside on pet mode the report said?

Anyway the police had to go from business to business and find the granddaughter to let her out. The last thing the report said is that adult protective services have been contacted. As they should be.

Tesla drivers, ticking all the stereotypes of Lexus drivers circa 2005. iykyk.

Another reason to not just make the cars all varying shades of grey!

I'm not sure its as bad as people are making it out to be. It looks like it just might be the panel surface difference. I had this fight many times at Tesla, (with the notorious white rear bumper mismatch) that the paint on a metal surface reflects light much differently than a plastic one, and this is magnified when one panel is flat and the other is curved.

Well whatever is making that happen no thank you. I don’t want anything like that happening on my Scout. It would drive me nuts.
