Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
You know, which all this talk over the months.....if we ever meet in person.;I will give you some butter 🧈. On the serious side, I really hope you get the color you have been longing for. It really seems like such a passion for you.
Thanks. We have wanted a yellow car for a long time. S2000, Xterra, Wrangler, Supra. We always end up with what’s on the lot. Black, white or grey. It’s time to finally get yellow!

Another legacy vehicle coming back to life...?

This would be cool, but given the current blazer I would Love to see a return but it’s hard to see knowing GMs general design, they’ll either make it with the existing Blazer or Chevrolet will likely have another name plate coming back

Articles like this are why the internet was a mistake. There is 0 actual information, just guessing and rumors. Love this line though:

"None of the rumors are definitive about how a new 2029 Jimmy will look. That said, as we understand things, GM is considering two paths: modern or retro."

What other options are there? Futuristic maybe? But there's a lot of overlap with futuristic & modern I think.

This was one of many artciles that seems to indicate that GM is brining the Jimmy back to life, I agree alot of word salad in that article, rumors for now, will be interesting to see if we hear any offical announcements in the future. Some other articles;

These all link back to GM Authority.

And then there’s this gem in GM Authority’s article:
"GM Authority sources tell us that GM has reassessed its previously shelved GMC Jimmy plans, and that the vehicle program is back on track"

But notice that all of the articles base their content on the GM Authority report - the last one you linked - and even that is just a bunch of "maybe". I almost thought Car & Driver was also original - but in that one's opening paragraph there's a link to https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a70988005/gmc-jimmy-body-on-frame-suv-coming-report/, which is based on GM Authority.

I don't particularly care about the Jimmy, so IF one is coming out, that could be good? It's just tiring that there's so many random sites parroting the same unfounded info over & over & over. But hey, guess there's money to be made serving ads & tracking/selling browsing habits...

Edit: I also don't mean to take out my frustration on you sharing the info. Didn't mean to shoot the messenger. lol

Ha, it's all good, no harm, no foul. This is an article dump thread so I rarely post any context to the articles and let others create their own opinions.

GM suspends next-gen electric trucks as it pivots back to gas engines, hybrids

This is a paywalled article at Automotive News, but plenty of EV and car websites will soon report on it.
