Dash Rail with USB C ports

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

In the attached Video the small detail I learned and wanted was power near a mount for a radar detector, go pro or Dashcam.

it looks as though there are at least two outboard usb C ports in the Dash accessory rail groove just under the rail at the 10:14 mark in the video.

its Mach e vlog at CES looking at Scout if that link doesn’t work.

I was hoping usb C ports would be up high at the rearview mirror housing for dashcams and radar, etc.

Hopefully, Scout Dashcams will be better than aftermarket with front dual Telephoto / wide angle views, sound on/ off, HDR with night vision, etc but aftermarket is more nimble up to now.

Cheers!

Yes, if you are going to put the rail then access to the power should be obvious. My 23 Bronco Big Bend was a Mid package so it had some nice stuff but not the power outlet on top the dash. But Ford did make the Bronco easily modifiable and a third party designed a replace for the center dash mount that included power, sure I had to fool around with the dash and placed to plug it in, but it was all plug and play. Now I can rest my Pixel 10XL Pros in the mag holders to let them charge. I also agree that today just stick with usb c, if you have an usb A you can easily get an adapter from Amazon, etc.

Plus it just looks amazing. One of the pictures my husband took in Chicago.

I’m 99% sure I saw a USB connector under tail but it never shows up in photos

I think CP1 put up a picture of the USB Cs under it. because we were all asking about it.

There is literally nothing more annoying to me than anything tethered, corded or hanging in my line of sight. Clear dash or bust for me! LOL.

AMEN!

When I installed a dash cam in my Crosstrek it was 100% contingent on being able to hide the wire.

The subaru is nice because it has USB ports hidden behind the eyesight, so you can achieve something like this (not my picture), no wires and it's behind the rear view so you don't even notice its there.

Now the only issue will be what to do with the excess cord since it looks like a whole whopping 4” of distance 😀
