Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hard reality and completely true. In 15 years I suspect Ford will be the only U.S. manufacturer left. I do often wonder, if China had billions of dollars worth of oil under their land would they still have advanced in EV adoption or become full capitalists like the U.S. and all the political support holding their industries back. Or did/would they still have had the foresight to advance technology?

Rivian will still exist.
And Lucid.
And Scout, hopefully, but that depends on how you define “US manufacturer.”
There will be a new field in 15 years. The US will be behind, but it could still recover.

Fair point. I just meant legacy ICE manufacturers. I wonder if Tesla will still be around?

I had forgotten they exist. LOL.
I don’t know how to predict anything about them with their flighty, drug-addled CEO doing stupid things all the time and the apparent infinite forgiveness their shareholders have for his nonsense.

Similar news posted but here is motor trends take on the latest

Not exactly news, but take a look at the comments in this Facebook thread. Our county commissioner posted about expanding charger access and you can see how dug in/uninformed a lot of people are.

There’s a lot of work to do in that space, if someone could capture it, it would go a LONG way towards adoption and perception.

Couldn’t resist sharing this. This is the best explanation (for my feeble brain) I’ve seen concerning axial flux motors. Imagine putting a 200-300 hp version at each wheel of our Scouts. No more axle, no more differential. Just buckets of power and articulation.

We wouldn't do that to you all. :D

The pickuptruck with the longer wheelbase has a few more options we can exploit to make it more competitive in the space. Traveler is more limited with the shorter wheelbase. Teams here are still optimizing tow ratings, so stay tuned.
To be fair I was basing my made up price on the F150's Tow Package, :ROFLMAO:

I think a few of GM brands are going to be here to stay. Cadillac seems to still be riding the EV train and have some pretty compelling products, and I think that so long as Chevy keeps a strong, cheap EV option I think they are good. I am slightly more concenered about GMC...even though it is a twin of Chevy it is a more "Truck/SUV" dominated brand, which might be tougher in the future and for EV/Hybrids

This is probably from late 1979 (like me) to early 1980. Ironic that the same issues going on in 1979 are going on right now.

I often wonder the same things. My guess this morning for 15 years in the future:
Ford-yes
Lincoln-gone
Chevrolet-yes
Cadillac-yes
GMC-gone
Buick-sold off to the Chinese
Jeep-yes
Dodge-gone
Chrysler- gone
Ram-yes
Tesla-automotive technology only, or automotive tech and factories sold
Lucid-sold off
Slate-no
Scout- yes, maybe, I hope

Is Chrysler even still really here? They make one vehicle now?
