Rain/fog Lights in the rear

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Rivian has rain/fog lights that you can turn on in the rear of the vehicle that greatly improves visibility in rain and foggy conditions. These lights are very bright red lights that are easily visible from distance, but one of the reasons I like to use them in my Rivian is they also disable the auto high beams which of course in those kind of conditions reduce visibility. I would love to have these on the Scout's as well because they are very useful. 🤙

I have never heard of that feature. Sounds interesting.

My Tesla has them too. It basically keeps one brake light on. I believe they are required in Europe. I don't use auto high beams so can't comment on whether it disables those. It has separate toggles for front and rear fog lights.

They're great! They are standard in Europe for the most part and Tesla had something similar but what I like about Rivian's set up is they are a pair of low separate lights from the brake lights and if you can run them on dark non lit roads/highways to make the vehicle that much more visible to others.

Looks great, clean install. I really like the dual light colors too, for multifunction.
The clear lights are great for backing in the garage (my front windows are tinted to match the back windows), or when I’ve had to hook up a trailer at night. The yellows are good for super dusty areas when with a group, or really foggy highway conditions. For the yellow lights I originally looked at a Bullet Proof Diesel Mount, but after the install it got damn expensive (plus I didn’t want to do something that could cause a rear window leak).

This is definitely a European thing, and I don't expect these behemoths to be sold across the pond, but I would love to see prewiring for lights in general. My Toyota came prewired for auxiliary front lights and roof lights which was really nice. I don't need roof lights, but prewiring for front and rear lights would be great so the customer could add their own lighting as desired. At that point, Scout could easily offer a rear fog light kit in their store, using the existing wiring.

Yeah as much as I would like this to be a standard feature I have a feeling the A/M is going to be huge for SM and they will surely have some serious lighting kits. But pre-wiring is a solid idea too.

I have to assume that's in their plans based on the switch blanks they're putting in. In my Toyota, I just had to buy a factory switch, pop it in the slot, put a relay in the fuse box, and I was good to connect lights. The harnesses were already there and connected to the dash, high beams, etc. It'd be incredible to have a user-selectable menu where you dictate how your lights come on. With switch on, with switch on AND high beams on, with reverse lights on, etc.
