EREV initial release only?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
By way of a pure BEV truck comparison, my R1T has a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs and puts out 908 lb feet of torque. Pure BEV Terra will be a beast (even with 2 motors).
Range on towing is the other big consideration, BUT if the Harvester really couldn’t get above 5k then the compromise on range for the BEV would be preferred. If the EREV can do the full projected 10k, then that’s probably the one for me due to bigger range.

And they absolutely should. The G-Wagon is a money printer for Daimler and VAG has enough knowhow to build a competent product in the same segment with Scout's platform (or a modified version of it) being ideal.
talked with a Gm at a Mercedes dealership ,and was told the Gwagon is the worst buy ever, terrible ride, terrible engine, terible handling, terrible all around,a status symbol with zero capability, he would never get one even though they give him any car to drive....

I wouldn’t buy one but the EVs do tank turns. Tank turns!!!

To say that a G-Wagon has zero capability is simply not true. At least for off-road use. It has triple lockers and is pretty solid for a stock vehicle. I get not wanting to drive one daily but I wouldn't turn one down if given one to drive. Then again my daily is a 2004 Montero...with character.

They need to bring the Montero back.

Sounds like the kind of guy who doesn't like Apple Jacks because they don't taste like apples. Doesn't matter what he thinks, people buy what they like and those things are hot sellers often going for above MSRP.

The boss just sad Harvester first. So Silverado EV is my option now cause it has a 5.5 ft bed.

If Scout is basing decision ratio of reservations, I think it's a misinterpretation. EVs are no longer as much a mystery. With more and more EV trucks out there reservations are no longer a predictor of actual purchases. See cyber truck. People putting rez on Harvest because there aren't any other EREV trucks out right now. But when Ford releases their EREV F150 before Scout, a lot of these rez holders will be asking for refunds.

I have been off the forum for a bit. So you said the boss. Is that Jaime or Scott who announced that the Harvester is first? If this ends up being the case I just had a thought. Since the EREV is much more complicated there is a higher probability there could be issues. Then word will get out Scout has issues that could really hurt all sales. I know your considering a Chevy but man folks are having a lot of problems. I certainly hope they dont delay the Terra EV very long into 2028 or this fellow will go Riv.

That would be Scott Keogh. I agree there's more complexity adding a gas engine at this point. Also, VW Group just paid a truckload (pun intended) for Rivian's architecture and Scout trucks would be perfect as first to use this but Rivian's zonal architecture is BEV based so this again raises the complexity level which as you pointed out will likely increase issues on top of any from new releases.

I'm here for the Terra's 5.5 ft bed, ladder frame, sway bar disconnect, etc in a BEV. I want to put a slide in camper that I can't do as well with a R1T. No more gas engines for me.

So now Scout wants to compete against Ford's F150 EREV rather than separating themselves from the crowd.

I fear you are correct

Can you provide a reference to what Scott said? Previous statements have been just rumors. If Scott said it, this would put this question to bed.
Here's one of sources: https://insideevs.com/news/785636/scout-motors-range-extender/

I didn't watch the Bloomberg video referenced in the article but the launch of the EREV first is making rounds on other sites.

I was really hoping Scout would launch off the Rivian R1. Modern software on top of traditional truck frame. Capable of overlanding with a proper camper i.e. min 5.5 ft bed.

I thought Scout was a unique start up cause it has the backing of a legacy automaker so it can stick to pure EV concepts and broaden the market from Rivian.

But the hand of legacy appears to be on the shoulders of Scout. They might as well sell out of VW dealers at this point. Some legacy automakers are their own worst enemy.

The only exception appears to be BMW with their new iX3 and Neue Klasse concept. And they've already met their initial launch sales number and adding another shift to iX3 production to meet demand. AND they actually increased the price BEFORE selling a single vehicle. It's too bad BMW has not entered the EV truck market.

The Neue Klasse concept is a software driven concept to building EVs. This was where Tesla, Rivian, Xiaomi come from. Ford is trying with their skunk works and their new small EV truck might be the product but we'll see.

Here’s the thing. We don’t actually KNOW anything yet. They haven’t announced anything other than they will start with one model and then move to the others. Something has to go first. I feel like this is the 5,000 lb tow rating comment for the EREV all over again.

We don’t have facts. We have a comment, yes I understand it’s from the CEO. I get that, but wanting to do something and actually being able to follow through are two totally different things. We do know that the BEV is less complicated and design was started on that way in advance of the EREV. We know that the EREV dwarfs the BEV reservations by a lot. Now what all that means from a business sense we just have to wait and see.

The one thing I will say is BEV or EREV, Traveler or Terra, SM has a hit on their hands here because whenever we all think about having to wait even one day longer for our Scouts, we all freak out and go to level 11 immediately. I think that’s a good problem for them to have.

🤓 I’ve got the solution! Add a $500-$1000 additional deposit that might not be refundable, this tells scout who’s actually interested and plans to convert!

Now while I’m joking, I’d totally do it
