Scout Color Poll #1

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Okay someone online posed this picture today of the current Rivian colors. And it got me thinking. What will the Scout color chart look like.

Rivian has 9 colors. This is how I picture the Scout color chart

1. Pacific Mist
2. White (I would prefer the white to be a creamy mushroom, not bright white. Something like the buckskin color).
3. Silo
4. Dark grey
5. Black
6. Tahitian Red
7. PBY (I think a great color name would be Churn. Butter is made in a Churn and the sea churns so it goes with both Silo and Pacific Mist.)

Now this is where it gets harder. What is missing in the above for the last two colors. I thinking they need to be something you don’t see everyday.

8. Root Beer with a flake similar to Silo.

This last one is the hardest.

A more mainstream color would be
9. Teal

But I think thinking outside of the box would be more fun. Epically seeing those old Scout color charts. They were every color of the rainbow and there’s no violet in the above. So how about
9. Frosted lavender

What do you all think. What’s your color chart?

This is Rivians color chart.

I still say kill the black, silver and white. For once those buyers can wrap their vehicle and give us more unique colors

In general car/truck buyers buy those colors. Sometimes because whatever color they do like isn’t available (I have silver because no blue is in my trim level on my current SUV, and Silver was the “least boring” of the choices).

If for the moment you ignore “people buy b/s/w because they can’t get the color they actually want” you are left with the concluding that they are very popular colors, and if people want one of those colors and can’t get it so have to either pay $60k for a vehicle in a color they don’t like, or pay that PLUS pay to get it wrapped or painted (neither of which are fantastic choices for a lease, which are very popular these days) you are driving people away because they can’t get what they want.

Not really a choice you will manage to convince any company officer to get behind.

You can say “hey if I don’t get butter yellow I won’t buy either” (or whatever non-b/w/s color you like), but you would be in the tiny minority of people that won’t buy because they can’t get an “odd” color. If they can only offer say 4 colors it’ll be b/s/w plus whatever is the most popular out of this list.

If you want an oddball color (and I’m with you on that, I love Rivian’s storm blue, and compass yellow, and other stuff that just isn’t that common) you are better off convincing Scout that they should offer “lots of colors”, that you understand more colors is more SKUs to manage, and it means more time for the paint shop to switch colors, more touch up sets to stock, longer delays to get any sort of body panel replacement as they deal with 16 colors rather then the more normal 6, or whatever.

Sadly more colors tends to also mean more cost, so good luck with that attempt, but it has bigger odds of success then “just piss off a whole lot of people to make a much smaller number happy”.

Definately Copper or Blue/Grey. I am hoping these will be built on a Solid State or Sodium battery architecture as that is the future. If not I will wait till they do. Don't get me wrong here, I am all in on the design but function is what I am after and that needs to be better than current offerings. I bought a Mach E GT and love the Grey/Blue thy did but the range really sucks, 280 with winter degradation down to 170 @90% charge sucks. I can't get through a day and a half of running around without range anxiety and fast charging prices are worse than gas.

Solid state will probably be 2030 or later. Scout has stated no SS batteries until proven tech with ample real world testing
