We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Yes, but cgi is different from ai. CGI can give a much more realistic view of what the product will actually look like. AI, as we’ve seen, is a mixed bag.
Putting a winch on a modern vehicle mostly depends on replacing the bumper. Amp draw might dictate if a second battery is necessary - but generally is not all that necessary. You run the engine while cranking the winch. If the alternator can keep up, most batteries have the power to deal with starting engines - so will not just give up with the initial load immediately.
With an EV - well that I don't know about. No alternator to keep pumping amps into the 12v battery and the battery does not need to be as large as it is no longer needing to provide starting amps - I guess inverter size might be more of limiting factor.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Seems like going with a modern winch will just be easier. I hope Scout will be releasing some final specs on a winch within the year.

Apropos of nothing, here in Connecticut, we are getting over a foot of snow today. This would have been a great day to test out a winch.

Really can't wait to see how the Terra (or Traveler) does in the snow.
Very excited to find out. Based on what little they showed from last years winter testing it looks very capable that short video doesn’t show enough to be sure
