Dog Friendly Features

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

As some others have suggested I would love to see as many dog/pet friendly features as possible! I often travel alone with my dogs on long road trips as well as daily errands and would really appreciate a dog climate mode so that I can keep the cabin an appropriate temperature for them even when I need to run into a store and the doors must be able to be locked in this mode as well! I would also ask that the location of AC/heat vents be taken into consideration so that no matter whether they are riding in the back seat or back end of the SUV they will be comfortable. My current Volvo SUV has vents that are well located in the back seat but not in the trunk space at all, so airflow isn't always great back there, and the climate mode when parked must remotely be restarted every 15min and maxes out after 3 times in a row, which sounds like a lot but isn't if you're stuck in a line! And I'd also really appreciate pet friendly / easily wipeable finishings inside ;)

While I’m here, I’ve had a thought (& it didn’t hurt). Has anyone mentioned an option for an animal ramp?
Something older &/or smaller pets could use to get in and out? Like seats that fold down, how about seats
that flip backwards to make a ramp? Just a thought
Yes it’s been mentioned a handful of times. Hope they listen. While I don’t have a dog I know unless you have a high energy younger dog that can jump most older dogs will struggle to get up and in

For those of us with long haired dogs that shed a lot, how about a built in vacuum?
Probably not feasible, but that would be super handy. I keep my Makita cordless behind the front seats and I am constantly vacuuming up the dog hair.
Manufacturer's like Ford, GMC, Kia, Mercedes and Toyota offer built-in vacuuming systems. Seems like a reasonable request.

And no carpet. Dog hair just sticks to it and carpet is so hard to clean.

I thought I was being brilliant "inventing" a new feature!

A friend of mine (that is a certified mechanic) also informed me this morning that a lot of vehicles have had them in the past. Hopefully that's a good sign, and maybe it's not as far fetched as I had originally thought.

I would definitely use it in mine with all the dog hair and other stuff that is likely to accumulate.
