Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We are in the process of replacing my wife’s SUV. At the dealership, we received a trade-in offer that was $4,000 less than what CarMax had quoted us. The original finance amount on the vehicle was approximately $20k, eventually reduced to just to $15k. After expressing our disappointment with the trade-in value, the salesman said he would check with the used car manager. After multiple exchanges, they agreed to increase the trade-in offer from the original $20,000 to $24,000.

When reviewing the sales sheet, we also noticed several additional fees, including window tinting, wheel locks, documentation fees, and other add-ons. After politely questioning these charges and speaking with the Sales Manager, the fees were ultimately removed.

The initial financing offer was over 6%. After contacting our bank and securing a 4.1% interest rate, the finance manager agreed to match it.

Overall, this experience served as a reminder of why we favor a direct-to-consumer (DTC) approach and continue to oppose the traditional dealership buying process.

These occurrences happen everyday. It was a good thing you were right on top of it. Slime-balls. Unfortunately, many just "sign & drive" which doesn't help our cause.

The one that always gets me is all the insurances they try and sell you. Key insurance and tire insurance and if you got every insurance it can add hundreds to the payment!

When we leased the Ioniq5 the finance "manager" was pushing the Lease Excess Wear and Tear policy HARD. He was talking down to us like we were stupid and had no clue what to expect. We told him multiple times that we have leased cars before and know the drill. It was ridiculous.

Also, the policy would have added almost $1500 to a two year lease. It's just throwing away money. If we have charges when we turn it in, we'll just pay for them. Crazy.

They get a BIG cut when they sell that crap.

It’s like car managers and sales people don’t realize we have the internet to do research. The whole I dustry needs to change their sales approach. It’s antiquated by at least 15 years

Only time we ever did this was my Audi due to the low profile tires and the rims being like $800 each. I think we paid like $950 but with all the potholes in PA I wasn’t risking it. But we debated it heavily

My kids got gap insurance since they weren’t putting a lot down.

We did get a 10 year “new car” warranty on the Supra. It was much cheaper than the actual BMW warranties since it’s sold as a Toyota.

And then the lifetime warranty on the Jeep has more than paid for itself by now.

So I’m not against an extra warranty as long as it’s not ridiculous things like $2995 scotch guard on your seats and they will “fix” it if it stains. Get out of here with that ridiculousness.

" LoJack or Simonize" That's to funny. Honestly, I did't know they were still a thing either. 🤣
I’ve done Simonize once or twice but it was same dealer and they knocked the price by over 60% and I know they still made money but what a joke. I liked the simonize as it did keep my cars looking cleaner and less car washes needed

We were getting PPF on the Supra and then ceramic coat on top of that. So it really was a waste of money in the sense.
