Jeep Recon

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Nor should they.

If the whole "we're gonna put this through the ringer" schtick was their thing, I get it... if Jeep had sent them a vehicle to test and kick around.

This was something for the general public to see and get hyped about. Imagine being excited to check out this car and seeing its features and when you take a seat inside it's falling apart, it would reflect super poorly on Jeep even though it wasn't their fault.

If I was another auto company I'd now be hesitant to bring a car to the show without it being roped off, which is a huge bummer for everyone involved.

That’s what Scout is generally doing along with security very close by

230 mile range? Somebody at Jeep forgot the EV in the EV.
That’s the trade off… boxy vehicles tend to have a higher coefficient of drag. Add in H/T tires and you lose efficiency. I see a lot of similarities in the packaging of this vs the Scout Traveler prototypes we’ve seen. The Recon is smaller of course but it has good usable space… just not a lot of range with the current battery pack it will initially ship with.

Still not a fan of Jeep quality of late so I’ll steer clear of it.

I was looking forward to this vehicle but seeing the final specs it's going to be a hard pass for me. Stellantis is objectively one of the worst companies when it comes to EV technology. They're at the back of the pack and losing ground fast and that's ignoring Chinese EV brands. If you add in what the Chinese have been producing Stellantis is close to the worst company around when it comes to EVs. It's no wonder they're lobbying hard for tariffs against better foreign car brands, against better emission standards, and that they want to go back to old fossil burners. They just can't compete.

What Stellantis/Ram lack in EV evolution, they make up for in HP Stupidity and Fun!

At what fuel cost? 10-12 mpg at full throttle?
And looking at people talking about the new TRX the general consensus seems to be that this new generation Stellantis might be fun in the short term, but are costly in the long-term, mostly do to service issues. I had a charger I put about 10,000 miles on it and got rid of it because it was costing way too much in fuel so I have no idea about Service issues but I can say that the Chrysler that’s still in the driveway has been in for transmission service once around 90,000 miles and other than a cracked speed sensor is seemingly fine

Random comment I found, and for the sake of being fair the reply aswell

Not at full throttle. The TRX is a fat and thirsty pig (ask me how I know).

Obviously the TRX and the Scout (or any EV) go about Fuel Economy/Range differently. The TRX is by far my favorite vehicle I’ve owned to date. I refer to it as the best stupid vehicle I’ve ever owned. Below are a couple of long distance trips I’ve done with hand calculation on fuel economy. Yes it’s terrible, but there’s a price to be paid for driving a truck like the TRX. I call it Smiles per Gallon.

How does it compare to a Rivian R1 quad motor?
Gen2 R1 Quad:
0-60: 2.6 seconds
HP: 1025
Torque: 1198 ft-lb
Range: 374 miles, 400 miles in conserve mode

If I had any money laying around, I’d start saving for a quad-motor, max range Scout Traveler (not yet even mentioned as a possibility by Scout Motors) or a Gen2 R1S Quad with max battery. But I don’t have $130k, so I’ll just dream.

We all just need to win the lottery.

The R1T might no be a full size pickup but with a quad setup it seems like a more than capable competitor to the full size sport trucks

The only thing I’d be worried about that might be a slight negative for the R1T vs the other trucks is its shorter wheelbase. In most of my use cases, that’s a positive. But with towing long, heavy trailers, that’s a negative. Even ABS- and traction-control-based anti-sway systems cannot fully overcome the long lever arm of a long trailer on a windy day.
