Thats a good truck right there. Ive been in a few of them. A-lot of people i know have them. Most of them are 2019s. The others are-all newer model. Fun trucks for sure. But a 33gallon gas tank and 10mpg I wouldn't buy it.

My 76' is cheaper to maintain and restore than a TRX. And my Scout Harvester will be even cheaper.

But OMG. The scouts at 3.5 s and similar features at $85k is apparently criminal. The TRX’s are cool, as are the Rapters but so few opportunities (at least in my neck of the woods) to enjoy the max thrill they offer.
I’ll stick with the Scout and first year issues over a stellantis product

I am more than happy with my 4.5 second Lightning’s acceleration.
I couldn’t handle my friend’s Tesla Plaid Model X—almost blacked out. Too many back and neck injuries.

Im sure people come on here and say the same thing these people are brainwashed by EV powertrains and the previous administration.

When in reality everything has to coexist. Or else Gas would get really expensive quickly. Or Electric prices would skyrocket for needing rapid expansion and upgrades to substations and other areas of the grid. I have an Uncle that works for an electric company. Who holds a pretty high position who is actually worried about the damage so far that these EV's have made for the grid and yet alone operating costs for the Energy Company.

Many years ago I was on a flight seated next to a defense contractor. They showed me their “dream car” that they had just purchased. It was a $130k Corvette C6 ZR1.

I commented, “I couldn’t own something like that. I wouldn’t be comfortable driving it anywhere and I wouldn’t want it to get covered in dust.”

They looked at me like I was insane and said, “I drive it everywhere. It’s just money.”

That was the end of the conversation. To me, $130k for a car is just way beyond my comprehension, even today, but especially in 2009.

My husband and I had had similar conversations. We will see a car like that on the road and game out what we would do differently. The answer is we would still be driving to Meijer for groceries. The Supra is the most expensive car we have ever owned, and that was before they raised the price, and there are times I won’t take it places because I don’t want anything to happen to it or it to get dirty.

That sounds like my neighbor with the rolls royce, landrover, escalade, denali 3500, an what else that man has. He drives them each every week even with the wild nj weather

The previous model TRX sold 1700 total units. But nobody is out here proclaiming that it’s the end of stupid big engines with insanely high prices.

The Lightning sold 125,000 units. But half the commentary is that it was a complete failure of a vehicle.

I will never understand the biases pundits embrace without even thinking about it.

I think your sales figures for the TRX are off. Over 4,000 Final Editions were sold the last year of production. Total sales were over 10,000. Definitely a halo vehicle, though. It's not a stretch to say the Lighting was a failure. Ford lost money on every one they sold and sales were below projections. That doesn't mean the Lightning isn't a great vehicle. Not every automaker can absorb years of losses like Tesla did. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for Ford.

I keep telling myself $85K is my Scout cost and I keep trying to wrap that around my head as prior to Scout, most we ever spent was like $68k and that because I wanted my wife to treat herself because she works very hard and is our bread winner and she needed to treat herself for a change. Otherwise mid $50’s once or twice otherwise we tend to hang in the mid $40’s as we are frugal with most of our purchases-saving until we can get quality but not just throwing our money away. Short of a house the Scout will be most expensive purchase we’ve ever made

Someone will claim Scout Motors to be a failure when its first quarter delivery numbers are 3000 units and not 30,000 units. When it “only" sells 15,000 units in Year 1, people will be certain.

The way I rationalize it is I will be keeping her for a long time like the Wrangler. My plan is 12 to 15 years so amortized over that length of time it’s not bad at all.
