Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I didn't need California to tell me, that about Tesla FSD. That's more like Fully Supervised Self Driving.
That's the real problem with Tesla FSD, it's pretty good and ahead of a lot of things on the market but it's not real FSD. If they'd just have called it something else with it being supervised, I don't think it would really be an issue.

Although china ev makers have said that Teslas FSD is way more superior to their FSD.

I'm in PA but my company has an office in Denver. The gears are turning 🤔
I plan to hopefully order on line from my house in Lancaster Co and take delivery in SC at the SM proving grounds (my new name for the delivery portion). If that doesn’t work I’ll drive to Delaware and order one there since I’m pretty sure my buddy in DE said they allow DTC. Wouldn’t be far from you either

I plan to order it on my couch. Since NJ is weird. You can order a car DTC but you can’t pick it up in NJ. Because they don’t have to license to do the paper work. So it’s ordered and processed in a different state but gets the registration of a NJ car.

Pretty much how my F150 was bought. I’m basically a pro at this.

Weird how that’s done.

I believe at CES Mr. Dre said that it will be camera, and sensor based.
The latest information came from Jamie last Sunday. No talk of LiDAR

I was initially thinking the same thing, but we're also trying to get the kids through all 50 states and we've already covered the coasts, so would really just be an excuse to get the midwest done!

When I was growing up our parents drove us by station wagon through lower 48, and Canada. I remember thinking at the time that it was child abuse. Now when the seven of us get together those road trips always come up. They are cherished moments. Glad to hear people are still doing this.

I'd be very surprised if there was lidar on the Scouts. Rivian hopes to achieve level 4, driverless tech, which is why they're adding lidar. Waymo, for example, extensively uses lidar. And Jamie said that they are only planning to do level 2+. So lidar would be a pretty unnecessary expense.

You can accomplish Level II+ without LiDAR. Jamie said this last Sunday.

"As has been pointed out, Level II+ doesn't "officially" exist. That said, I got clarification and we will have Level II+ meaning some hands-free capabilities. Subject to final certifications and last minute changes."

When I asked him if this ment no LiDAR. I got no response. Maybe they are still thinking about it.
