Jeep Recon

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Someday we will know the answers to all of these questions. It can’t come soon enough

I just keep going back to what they said in the presentation at Nats. $20k less than competitors.

However I agree with you all that’s 35s are going to affect the range. I’ve decided I’m going to settle for 33s. 😹
I’m still deciding my tires, but I’m leaning towards 33s.

I am as well, I think 35” will look slightly better but for what I use it for, I think I’ll take the extra range of the smaller tires.
Yeah, I'm on team 33in tires as well.

I've been 100% fine with my ZJ's 31's for over 15 years. And since I'm not into hardcore offroading atm, 33's is easily enough to get to the "bad trailheads" style of offroading I do these days (for backpacking/mountain biking).

Which is also why I'd likely be wanting some "road biased" AT's, or "aggressive All Season" tires. I've been pretty happy with my Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT's I've had on the Jeep for a few months. So something like that on a "mild" offroading package might be interesting to me.

Well I think everyone also needs to remember that Jeeps prices have doubled since Stellantis took over. And they are over priced pieces of junk. Scouts pricing is pretty Spot on for the Market. And the features and the size the Scouts are. And it’s also is being built in Mexico.
I’m sure the DTC approach will manage the costs to be more competitive than Stellantis is

I still want an aggressive looking tire. I love the K03s. What’s that going to do to my range?

I hope the $67k base price of the Recon is simply because Stellantis is just out of its collective mind.

That said, I’ve never understood the $60k price point as coming with a 350 mile range. I’ve always expected that the 350 mile range would come at a premium. But we still don’t know.

I think the Lightning is the best model for what Scout will be doing with the Terra.
The Lightning XLT with the standard range battery (240 miles) has a starting MSRP of about $57k in my area; $63k CA in Vancouver.
The Lightning Flash with its LFP standard battery, (300 miles) has a starting MSRP of about $66k in my area; $74k CA in Vancouver;
The Lightning Lariat with the Extended range battery (320 miles) has a starting MSRP of about $72k in my area; $88k CA in Vancouver.
And of course, those are MSRP numbers, not the real prices seen on dealer lots, which are generally lower right now.

The closest competition for the Scout Traveler is the Recon and the R1S. Those are both quite high-priced for what you get if you’re comparing with Scout’s promised $60k starting price. We’ll see.
I agree on the range. I’m still expecting like 270 base and the 350 as upgrade

I share a lot of this fear.

The Body on frame construction should be somewhat cheaper to make. And being made in the USA should mean less tarriffs (hopefully... maybe???). But I'm right there with you in the worry department.

I don’t think tariffs will lower prices. They never have before. Domestic prices just go up to just below the suddenly higher cost for imports. And all the back-and-forth just adds cost because of uncertainties.

Meanwhile I’m hoping for 37” tires with a Harvester package.

I think i might put Pirelli Cinturato P7 on my Scout. Although some AT tires would be nice.

All jokes aside, I might go with whats on my F-150. BFG's and because a-lot of family members have ran 100k+ of miles on them, and they replaced them with about a 1/4 left of tread.

The KO3’s seem to be a good tire. My brother just switched from the KO2 to the KO3 a few weeks ago (the KO2’s had 50,000 miles on them). The KO3’s seem to be impressively quiet, and they did great in the snow/ice we found while hunting. I also don’t think they will do much as far as range/fuel economy. Maybe slightly worse than a dedicated highway tire, but if you do get into crappy weather, you’ll be glad you have a good set of tires on your vehicle.

I had the Cooper Discoverer AT3’s on my 2012 Power Wagon, and they were a good tire. I thought about those when I had to get new tires for the TRX last year (I was also looking at the KO3’s) but my service manager at Lithia talked me into the General Grabber A/Tx and I’m glad he did. After 12,000 miles I love these tires. If I can get 40,000 miles out of them on my truck I’ll be thrilled!

The KO3's will be good summer and shoulder season tires for sure. Snow and ice are another story entirely. I just swapped out my A/T's for my winter wheels with Nokian Hakkas and they are NIGHT and DAY better than any A/T I have ever run in the winter. Like - not even comparable in terms of traction and stopping performance.

That is what I will be debating when it comes to picking tires for the Scout. We go snowboarding a lot and drive up to Quebec every winter as well as parts of New England. I have winter tires on my Tesla that we take at the moment, I'm not sure if A/T or all season tires on the Scout will be enough or if I'll keep with the setup I have now with 2 sets of tires.

I’ve never had two sets and we seem to get less and less snow here in the winter. Cold yes, snow not so much. I really don’t want to have to deal with two sets if I don’t have to.
