  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I'm just saying if it doesn't need a mode for driving in rain, why need a car wash mode? or better yet, just don't bring your car to an automated carwash, it's horrible for the paint in the first place. But ill take a spin around your post.
Sensor features like opening the charge port door are only enabled in PARK. If you are in DRIVE none of that stuff would happen, so no rain mode is needed. Car Wash mode is simply a convenient way to disable sensors and do things like fold mirrors (with a single command).

it's also just as useful in the driveway, where I do all of my washing until all hell freezes over and I have to shut off the outside water at the house.

If they have it I hope it’s called bubble time or cheeky monkey time and this pops up on the UX -IYKYK
Ok I’ll bite, what is Fart mode?
The car makes farts sounds when the driver presses one of the buttons on the steering wheel. There are a variety that get cycled through and you can choose your preferred fart. I would not want the stomach condition that these farts represent. Completely useless and dumb but the 5 year olds love it. There is a lot about Tesla's naming scheme that I dislike such as Mad Max Mode, Rave Cave, and voice command slike "open your butthole" to open the charging port. I'm certain Scout will do better for the adults in the room.

I’m sorry. I had heard of a few of those but not all of them. Absolutely not. No thank you.

I realized I listed features but never really mentioned those of which we use on a regular basis. Here they are:
  • Pin to drive - this is a great security feature because even if someone steals your phone, they would not be able to drive away with your car.
  • Phone as akey (table stakes these days)
  • Traffic aware cruise control (we own FSD but do not use it much) - amazing in traffic
  • Driver safety features like lane departure and collision warning (nice that they are each adjustable in terms of sensitivity)
  • Apps like spotify for music and podcasts
  • Voice commands for phone calls and replying to texts
  • Cabin precondition is the very best
  • Navigation and rout planning are class leading
  • Cabin overheat protection
  • Keep climate on (which I left off the original list oops) this is different from camp or dog mode.)
  • Sentry mode w/ dashcam (triggered to record on honk)
  • Service scheduling (only had to a couple of times but is super convenient)
  • Dog mode (pet mode)
  • Trunk/door/frunk open warnings
  • Stop light alerts when the light turns green
  • Driver profiles are really great as you can set multiple we even have snow and commute profiles setup
  • Auto high beams
And very rarely: Valet, Joe and carwash (twice in 8 years of ownership)

The very worst Tesla feature is... Automatic wipers they never work correctly.
The second very worst feature is needing to use the screen or a voice command to open the glove box.

I guess I would just ask SM to not overcomplicate things for the sake of using “technology”. Sometimes the wheel just does not need to be reinvented.

I think Rivian did this a year or two ago... the launched an update around Halloween that allowed you to put their car in Knight Rider mode or into I think Star Trek Mode.... the first did the whole sweeping light thing in the front and I think changed their main display to have all the buttons that looked like Kitt's super-functions. I think in Star Trek mode, they changed the display of the speedometer and the like to the design style from Star Trek TNG and I think there were new sounds too.

I thought that was kind of creative and fun and it would be cool to have little updates like that occaisionally.

Based on several of the different inputs offered, is the charge cover a manual button like my hybrid where I push the button and the cover pops open? Can it be manual to simplify-does it need to electronic? Perhaps my gas cover is also electronic and I don’t realize it?

I agree at those features are fun so long as primarily contained to the car. I would never use a fart sound but if it isn’t a fixed feature then let the childish occupants enjoy. I would hope SM is a bit classier and to that point tasteful holiday release features OTA are cool.
And as farm animal sounds go-I’d prefer a crow-love that squawk sound

I agree that simple is always good but I think that "Delightful" is the ultimate goal. The desingers at Scout are all about heritage and connection and they nailed the vehicle deisgn so I don't doubt they will do the same on the software side. Some of the features I listed are simply must haves to compete these days, some are occasionally useful and some strike a tone that does not resonate with Scout's brand. I will say that in general people enjoy the one off touches, those features that have no true use other than to engage the user. Take the many, many easer eggs included on Jeeps. The classic speedometer band might be viewed as gimicky in somes circle but not in this one because it touches on heritage. I'll take more of that please and thank you. Its fun to hear what's important to people and I will say there may be a little bit of you don't appreciate it until you have it happening here as well.

Maybe it is best to focus on the must haves to compete and the features would be really helpful. Ev owners feel free to chime in if you are passionate about a feature.

Sure, it could absolutely be manual and just like a gas cap. I have also had gas caps that are manual stop working, fail to open, or break. Whether it is mechanical or automatic, you could open it a few different ways, but I think manual might just be the best.

One thing that happens sometimes is that you might un-plug, then get distracted or forget to close the charge port door. If you hop in and put the truck into DRIVE, an automated door will just close automatically for you, for example... All trade-offs.

I like the idea of the Scout having easier to fix "on the fly" or "in the field" items, which makes me lean more towards mechanical VS. automatic, but there are certainly convenience benefits to tying automatic functions into the SW and U/I.

Definitely don't want phone as key. I will go hiking or running on trails, and I'll leave my phone in the car. I try to not be tied to my phone and even leave it at home sometimes. So, phone as key would be bad for me.
It's not a mutually exclusive type deal... You can have phone-as-a-key (PaaK) and not use your phone as a key. You can have PaaK and leave your phone in the truck and still lock it with another key. You can use a FOB, key card, wristband or watch as a key and use independently from your phone (or with your phone in the truck).
