What’s your hobby

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Other than the work I did - not much since retirement... I am getting better with the smoker (although my wife has had her fill of pretty much smoked everything. :). )
Oh that’s a talent. So now it’s Scouts and Coffee and Cookies and Smoked meats. Dinner, dessert and a show!!

Large format photography and woodworking. During my working years i collected a lot of stuff for a well equipped darkroom (I have everything but the dark), intending to dive headlong into it after retirement. I continued working after retirement and it’s just not going to happen now. During ‘The Lockdown’ i got interested in woodworking and so now have a few tools and am slowly getting into it.
Here’s the great Ansel Adams wanna-be. Taken by my dad at the Bruneau sand dunes state park near Mountain Home Idaho, early 1980’s.

My grandma taught me to knit and crochet when I was 5. I make blankets and if I know you long enough eventually you get a blanket. I try and ask people their favorite colors. One of my friends her favorite color is orange. That one was difficult, they don’t have a lot of options for orange yarn. Here’s a couple I had made. That red one turned out prettier than I thought it would.View attachment 10088View attachment 10089
I like to crochet, but I don’t have the patience/dexterity/mental discipline for knitting. Kudos! Looks great!

They are! So J when we have Scouts and Coffee someday are you going to bring Scout shaped cookies?? And remember I need gluten free. 😹
Who knows. I’d have to play around with a design. I only work with basic geometrical shapes for my larger cookies. The bite sized cookies are shaped but I like having to work designs off a very basic shape-it’s my architect/geometry brain I suspect

All my neighbors use that saying... I think they have a lot more money than I do - cause the gas for the boat makes me think buying the fish is way cheaper!
Well-yeah, but isn’t that true of every hobby? For the time I’m my cookies I’d have to charge $8-9 a cookie-with a coupon you can probably get two packs of Oreos for the same price

Very cool - I'd be gaining weight on those for sure... My wife does the cards for every holiday - the family seems to really enjoy them...
Ironically I don’t like the cookies I make-🤣. I’m a nestle’s dollhouse purist. And cards are great. I send them to my daughter in college and most are themed with a note inside that we’ll cover a meal. The envelope I posted was abstract sushi so she knew what that one would be. Also did an abstract ramen noodle one too. Others are just whatever’s tickling my brain when I start to draw

Oh stop. Everyone has something. Even if it’s not something you can show a picture of. I have a talent that I can literally talk to anyone. Strike up a conversation with a stranger, no problem. That’s a talent.

So what’s your talent?
I apparently have the same talent. But never realized it was a talent. My daughter sees it as a curse 🤣🤣🤣

I think everyone should learn to sew. My brother-in law makes (lack of term) soup bowl cozies, made us PSU ones for Xmas one year and he’s ex navy so it’s a cool talent. I used to design and sew counted cross stitch when I was in junior high because my mom did it and I spent time with her. And the girls at school loved getting the art. My eyes struggle with that nowadays-used to use the super tiny graphic paper to create the images and I’d probably go cross eyed trying that now

I did counted cross stitch for many years as well. Same. Eyes couldn’t do it nowadays as well.

I was in 4H as a kid and from kindergarten to senior year, I sewed a full outfit and we had to turn it in for judging and then we had to model it. I never won but I’m so glad that I learned how to sew like that
