It is a great looking vehicle. I’ve said before we had ordered, then cancelled, the Lexus GX550 for my wife only because the costs were so similar. I just think the LC is pricey for what it is. You can get a similar spec’d Sequoia for about same price. If the Land Cruiser BEV were in the same cost class as the Scout, and looked similar enough to today’s Land Cruiser, it would be a definite top competitor in my spreadsheet. The LC is a bit skinnier and otherwise has similar dimensions as the Traveler.
Also, it’s hard to complain that their current main page advertising photos are literally from my backyard and in places I’ve played.

Yeah, this would make a tough decision for me too! I was actually on the list for a LC when they came out, and got an allocation quicker than I expected. I decided to turn it down because it wasn't a NEED, it was a want. And it would have been a pretty hefty cost to take a step back in MPG and gas costs (premium required). At the time, I knew Scout's announcement was coming later that year, so decided to wait for that and hope it was appealing. If the Land Cruiser BEV were in the same cost class as the Scout, and looked similar enough to today’s Land Cruiser, it would be a definite top competitor in my spreadsheet. They definitely catch your eye. And to my surprise the trail dust color (forget exact name) really appeals to me. My hates that color but something about it just looks uniqueYeah, this would make a tough decision for me too! That said, seeing them out and about I still look longingly...
Almost $6,000 Yikes. I guess for some that are paying the big bucks for their Porsche it is a drop in the bucket.![]()
Porsche’s Wireless Car Charger Will Be A Lot More Expensive Than Wired Chargers
With a maximum output of 11 kW, it’s on par with wired Level 2 home chargers. But that convenience comes at a cost.insideevs.com
See, to me a LC is way higher quality than a Sequoia and more capable because it’s smaller, tighter, and just better for my use-case (camping/overlanding/etc). And for my use-case, the top-end LC is cheaper than a mid-range Sequoia. And the LC is about the same price as a 4Runner when specced similarly. It is a great looking vehicle. Yeah-not one of them. I’m still looking for a Boxster, used for under $25K that is at least a 2013. Very slim pickingsAlmost $6,000 Yikes. I guess for some that are paying the big bucks for their Porsche it is a drop in the bucket.
The LC is very distinct. Lets hope they don't think they need to change things up just because it becomes an EV.See, to me a LC is way higher quality than a Sequoia and more capable because it’s smaller, tighter, and just better for my use-case (camping/overlanding/etc). But we’ll see what the BEV looks like.
It came with everything I needed.I have a question about this. You have just added all that weight to a hatch that lifts up. Do you have. To reinforce the hinges? Make any other modifications?
And does the electric lift gate still function properly with the tire on?
It’s the maintenance on things like that. The car may be cheaper but’s it’s still servicing a Porsche.Yeah-not one of them. I’m still looking for a Boxster, used for under $25K that is at least a 2013. Very slim pickings
If Scout isn't forthcoming about the metro sized Scout I am very tempted to get a 718 EV.Yeah-not one of them. I’m still looking for a Boxster, used for under $25K that is at least a 2013. Very slim pickings
Yeah-great when in warranty but after-eeeww!It’s the maintenance on things like that. The car may be cheaper but’s it’s still servicing a Porsche.
I just don’t like the light housing on the EV’s. For the 718 I’d be happy with ICE. But it’s been my dream car since it was introduced still sits on my shelf in my officeIf Scout isn't forthcoming about the metro sized Scout I am very tempted to get a 718 EV.
Like how you have the backpack with your patch in the background.I just don’t like the light housing on the EV’s. For the 718 I’d be happy with ICE. But it’s been my dream car since it was introduced still sits on my shelf in my officeView attachment 8886
Its funny because this is the smallest Land Cruiser the US has had in a long time.If the Land Cruiser BEV were in the same cost class as the Scout, and looked similar enough to today’s Land Cruiser, it would be a definite top competitor in my spreadsheet. Exactly. I had zero interest in any LC since they moved from the J80 series to the J100 series and later. Those were all too big and too expensive for us. This new model is finally something worth looking at again. It’s still expensive, though. Its funny because this is the smallest Land Cruiser the US has had in a long time.
The Sequoia and LX700h replaced the American Land Cruiser, and the new Land Cruiser is more akin to the 4Runner than the former full size units.
Makes total sense. Especially if your focus is capability.Exactly. I had zero interest in any LC since they moved from the J80 series to the J100 series and later.
