Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Starting to sound like the Nissan Murano. Some vehicles are iconic and should not venture too far. A topless G-wagon is in the right genre but just seems better as a solid box. But guess that is simply my perception

This seems promising.

I hope they can get the costs down for commercialization. If they could drop these in shopping center parking lots and urban parking garages, this would enable charging for people who don’t have a home charger. I don’t mind the plugs I have today, but not everyone is so fortunate to have a place to plug in at home.

OMG! So today Ford posted this…

And then one of my favorite ex F1 drivers posted this…

I’m so excited!!!

Okay, racing is a part of the car geek realm I’ve never really gotten into, so please take my question as it’s meant: genuine curiosity. What’s exciting about this announcement? I gather there’s a famous racer who has joined Ford’s racing team? What else? That’s clearly a Ford Raptor in the photo, so I’m guessing this is a rally/Baja-style racing related announcement?

I’m not often excited about corporate rearrangements since in my direct experience it just means new management telling experienced people how to do jobs they’ve been doing for a long time. And the firing of a large part of the team. So that part had me skeptical of any improvements to Ford’s current capabilities or offerings.

But I just don’t know enough about the racing world in general. Thus my questions.

Ha! Honestly it’s less the Ford part and more the Daniel Ricciardo part. He was an F1 driver. I have tried to get into Indy Car and NASCAR but I’m a F1 girl. He lost his seat a bit ago and there were rumors he might come back as one of the drivers for the new Cadillac team but he didn’t. I’m just glad to see him go somewhere. He just seems like a genuinely nice guy and he had a hand injury. When you are going to crash in F1 you take your hands off the wheel because when you crash if the wheel jerks it will break your hand. He didn’t do that. He was gonna crash and was headed for another crashed car and kept his hand on the wheel to steer and not hit them but broke his hand/wrist when the wheel jerked on impact. He never quite recovered after that and ended up losing his seat. So it’s the F1 fan girlie in me that’s excited to see him back in racing.

Neat! Thanks for sharing! :)

When I was in grad school for geology-related work, I taught physics students how to off-road, and one of the things I had to drill into them was how to hold the steering wheel when doing more technical driving: no thumbs or fingers inside of the wheel unless you want to break them. For very similar reasons you mentioned. It’s easy to lose control of the steering wheel when there’s a direct connection between it and the tires. With drive-by-wire, you lose some of that direct connection, but also lose some of the dangers.

Now are we for certain the Scout is going to be drive by wire? I keep seeing it mentioned but I wasn’t aware that was official.
