Ideas for Scout Engineers

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hi Scout engineers,

Below are some ideas for standard or optional features:

-add rear bumper corner built-in steps to allow access to stepping up into the truck bed, similar to the Chevrolet Silverado/Colorado.
-include a digital key option to use a smartphone as a passive key for entering/locking the vehicle.
-pre-heat/pre-cool cabin remotely via smartphone app
-include 360 degree camera options on both Traveler and Terra models.
-include Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as available options.
-heated/cooled/massaging seats
-excellent sound system with subwoofer
-flex-fuel capable for harvester electric/gas powertrain models
-include a drain plug in the front trunk for ice/beverages for camping/tailgating
-ensure the load capacity on both tailgate and suv tailgates can handle 2 adults sitting on them, say at least 500lbs.
-include an option for a plain-colored interior headliner fabric, I'm not a fan of the pattern shown on the reveal vehicle.
-allow an option for full-leather seats instead of the leather/fabric combination.
-include an option for at least hands-free driving if not both hands and eyes free driving.
-rain-sensing windshield wipers
-auto high/low headlight beams
-include 7 and 4 pin towing connections
-power sunshade on the glass roof option
-solid roof option for those that don't want either the retractable or glass roofs.
-allow Netflix, Amazon Prime, and others for playing tv shows and movies when parked.
-use Google maps
-have an option to use something like OnX for off-road trail maps
-matte black exterior color option
-matte black front and rear skid plate finish options
-relocate the household power outlets on the suv from the same area where the charge port is located to just inside the rear cargo area so that they are out of the weather in case it's raining.

Thank you for listening!

I never change my seating, wheel, or mirror position. If I look up and can't see out of the rear view it's a reminder that I am slouching and to fix my posture.

That being said, this thing is a rolling computer. There should be no practical limit to how many driver profiles you can have. No reason you couldn't have a cyure-default, cyure-driving, and a cyure-dress profile. You could bind the cyure-default to your key fob so it would move to that one when you get into the car. Then if you were in different shoes just press the profile button on the screen and choose the correct profile. All of that is doable in a Tesla today (they will even let you do it while driving) so I have to believe that Scout will have equivalent functionality.
Sounds unlimited. What a great feature. My current Lincoln can only save 3.

Yeah, this is where the dance of physical buttons vs touchscreen comes into play. In the case of driver profiles, I think touchscreen is the way to go (my '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee has buttons for the profiles which limits the number). With Tesla it's an icon at the top of the screen that you click on and the drop-down list could extend all the way down the screen (heck, It could even have a scroll bar).

Obviously for other things, forcing you into the touchscreen is bad. I am moving away from Tesla due to their sadistic march towards no physical interfaces. My Model X Plaid came with no stalks at all (I was able to install aftermarket ones but they are a little dodgy). So far Scout is saying all the right things when it comes to a balance between the physical and the virtual. I am here to vote with my wallet.

Good point, though it doesn’t have to be either/or, eg you could have 2 profiles assigned to buttons and additional ones available via screen.

Completely agree, but there is a limit. For example, this is insane:

For Driver Profiles specifically, you would bind a profile to a key fob/phone key. So when you get into the car it would automatically adjust to your profile based on the key you used. Because of that it would be rare that you would need to change your profile, but if you did, 2 presses on the touchscreen is not a burden IMO.

Oh yeah, I forgot the most ridiculous thing Tesla has ever done (and I've been driving them for 15 years so that's saying something). In my car, there is no button to open the glovebox. It takes 2 presses on the touchscreen to open the stupid glovebox. Come on Elon.... Yes, for the Tesla nerds here, I did bind one of my scroll wheels to be the glovebox opening button but that doesn't help my passenger that needs a tissue - they either have to bug me to open the glovebox or go pecking around on the screen.

Well, one person’s insanity is another’s childhood fantasy :) But it’s a fair point, it’s not vital to have the profile button physical, as long as the adjustments themselves are accessible, like I find I need to adjust my mirror for some reason.

Okay what’s etched into the Bronco glass? Jeep it’s just a sticker on the windshield. A little Wrangler going over mountains.
The “established in 1966” was in the glass on my Wildtrak from what I can remember. I don’t think that was a sticker so I was worried when I had to replace it that it would be gone but when safelite used OEM glass it was still there.
