Hey Lady Scouts!!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Southern girl here who used to drive a lifted JKU (my first baby). Then I moved to L.A. and moved over to Tesla (before Elon went crazy).

Both vehicles served their purpose for their environments. I loved removing my top, going mudding and beach camping. But I also love dog mode for my dog and not having to spend $5 a gallon on gas.

The Traveler is exactly what I’ve been wanting, a mix of my old jeep and my current Tesla. My only issue is the cloth top. I was a removable hard top girl so hopefully we’ll have other options.
Welcome to the humble abode

As far as I've heard, no removable top to be offered. I was hoping Ford would come out with an EV Bronco, but no dice on that either. A friend has one and rarely removes the top because it is a PITA. I am looking forward to the canvas top as a nice compromise. A glass top is also an option.

That’s what I have heard as well. Solid, glass or cabana. The cabana reminds me of the Sky Active roof on a Wrangler. I’m 99% sure I want glass but I’m probably going to go test drive one of those at some point with that roof to see what it’s like. I have a Wrangler and have never once taken the roof off. I’m glad the Scout roof isn’t coming off. And the doors for that matter. Just leave everything on the car.

Hello from Wisconsin! My husband and I just reserved the Traveler (EV/Gas hybrid) and I'm super excited about it. We've never had EV before so this will be our first. He's also interested in the Scout Terra truck for himself. I've been a Honda (Odyssey & Pilot) and Subaru (Forester & Ascent) girl for the past two decades and really love my current 7-seat Ascent but we won't need the third row seating when my youngest moves on to college in a few years. Anyway, glad to be here and excited to see what develops between now and official release!

Different strokes for different folks. I loved removing the top on my Jeep just as a lot of Jeepers do within the community. It’s one of the main selling points of the vehicle.

I would like other options due to the cloth tops degrade quicker over time. I’d love to see an option to have fresh air come in from the roof without using cloth. The amount of space in the prototype is adequate but would love maybe a sliding glass option.

Sounds like your experience is similar to many on here in that the Scout will be our first EV. It is very exciting to be part of this forum and to be able to see and hear developments right from Scout, and to be able to offer input as well.

There is a wealth of information on the forum from the last 2+ years, so using the search function will likely turn up anything you want to know about Scout up to this point.

Thanks! I will definitely be doing some research as we get closer to actually ordering. I expect this group will be hugely helpful, and love that we get to provide input on the final product!

Hey everyone. Happy Friday!! Okay this isn’t just something lady specific but I’m putting this here.

I have a Wrangler with a ClearLidz so it a slightly tinted plexiglass panel that replaces the two panels over the driver and passenger seat. When the sun is really bright I have so much glare I can’t see my screen. Now when I say screen I need to clarify. My Jeep is 12 and it’s an aftermarket unit I put in so I could get CarPlay and a backup camera.

With all that being said with the cabana top and glass roof options I’m hoping they take glare into account. Because with the glare today I couldn’t see anything on my screen when the backup camera was on.

The other issue I have is fingerprints on the screen. Anything they can do to make it either anti-fingerprint or easier to clean so you can just wipe it off with a dry microfiber would be great. Especially if you have little ones who like to play around with the screen when you are parked.

Dumb question as I learned this after some time. Do you where sunglasses when you drive that have anti glare? With mine, at a gas pump I can’t see anything on the screen. I’ve noticed some times I have issues inside the car as well. I nearly lost my mind one time at the pump and for some reason pulled glasses off to look at something and realized it was there all along 🤣

No such thing as a dumb question and yes sometimes I do. I had trouble with the screen trying to get a propane refill and had to take my sunglasses off to see it.

Can’t see the HUD with polarized glasses nor the numbers on a pump or many fast chargers for that matter.

You mean polarized lenses? I had that issue with my old sunglasses messing up my ability to see the readouts in the car and on my phone. I have anti-glare coating in my glasses and don’t wear my sunglasses when I drive as much, particularly if I have my Scout Motors hat to shield my eyes (I also need to replace my sunglasses: I lost a lot of weight and they’re fit for a puffier version of my head).

Yes-meant polarized

Good news. Most of these newer trucks have larger infotainment screens and easily adapt to bright conditions + excellent resolution! FWIW, I put a screen protector on my infotainment screen and have zero issues with glare or polarized glasses - plus super easy cleaning. Fingerprints can be much worse without a screen protector, so its kind of a no-brainer to get a screen protector with a new truck these days, and there are a bunch of aftermarket companies that will also make them for Scout. i think the one that I have was made by T-Wraps. Even without the screen protector and based on the screen we have seen for the new Scout, it shouldn't be a problem.
