Agree, I realize now that some of the Scout logos on the grill have IH red in them, I absolutely love that!

One nit, I hope that the black ABS plastic on the outside is reduced a lot by the time we hit production. It doesn't age well and can look pretty bad even at 4-5 years old. Possibly it'll be a factory option to order a metal/painted grill at build time and keep the ABS for a base option.

It depends on what type of plastic. If it’s HDPE it should be fine. It’s also called get your car detailed, not cleaned by an automated car wash. My Daily driver has plastic and I detail it every 3 months and I have zero aging on it. 5 hours of my life I will never get back but i know my car will always look better than my friends and neighbors.

I just wanted to update everyone on what’s been happening in Colorado. I testified earlier in the week in the Colorado legislature at a House Committee hearing on the proposed bill that would require Scout to sell through VW dealers. Two other guys testified as well—I’m awful remembering names but they both did great. There were a ton of dealers who testified along with the national dealers association, all testifying in favor of the bill obviously. Notable and interesting that the Colorado Energy Office and several environmental orgs (sierra club and a clean transportation group) opposed the bill since it didn’t encourage more EV adoption in Colorado. The hearing went on for over 2 hours into the evening, and some of the Colorado legislators asked tough questions of the dealers like why has the national dealer association opposed EVs (no really good answer there). The other 2 guys and I all presented concerns about the dealer model, including price markups and poor service and a more complicated process.

I had to jump before the end of the hearing, but apparently they postponed a vote on it because there weren’t enough votes to pass it out of the committee. This was a pretty big deal since it had so much lobbying from dealers, and the Scout rep told me this was a win for now. Hope it helps in the long run! Also, more reason to keep contacting legislators because they seem to be receptive.
