What would your last vehicle be if you had to decide today

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Since @cyure started with everyone’s first car I’m gonna riff off of it and ask what would your last vehicle be if you had to decide today and keep it until they bury you. Extra points if you share a pic and explain your logic. No right or wrong-just what appeals to your inner car loving soul!

It doesn’t exist.
It would be an updated, modern take on a 1990s Toyota Land Cruiser, FJ62-sized BEV.
It would have 350-400-ish mile range.

Or it would be an MG Cyberster, which does exist; it’s just not available in the US.

Oh, that’s easy. If I was given terrible news or something and I had to choose from cars on the market right now, I’d want a Rivian R1T quad so I could fill that magical hidey hole full of maximum whimsy and doing the cool destructive spinning thing. Also, I’d perhaps start a side hustle of clearing out storage units or just go do fun stuff or write a heartfelt letter to RJ Scaringe telling him about my insider knowledge of what food trucks he probably ate at as a graduate student so he should 100% just give it to me outright or deeply discounted because in this theoretical situation I’m going to die anyhow, so he can probably get it back.

The Scout Traveler is today’s closest example of a modern Land Cruiser FJ62 BEV.

If Toyota pulls their CEOs’ heads out of the dark, dank place they’ve been storing them and releases a price-competitive BEV Land Cruiser, I might be tempted away from Scout. Especially if the LC has better dimensions.

A 1957 Thunderbird. I had a chance to buy one in the early ‘70’s for $3600. For lack of the money and a place to garage it… it slipped away. I did get to drive it tho. Felt like a bigger car than it was, i thought that was a plus, not a negative.

The MG EV does exist, but it's not available in the US.
Also, it’s not really my “dream” car. I’d just enjoy a 2-door electric roadster.
I was kidding. I know they exist and was bummed they are coming. Those pics were from a dealer in London when I was there in March. Was excited to see them in person. Always wanted a perfect open top touring vehicle

The owner of Lancaster Archery where my daughter had trained has one (I don’t think he’s sold it). It’s an ice blue-ish color and man does the engine sound amazing.

Mine would be the Porsche 728 sportster. Because if a convertible is only somewhat practical a sportster completely misses the practical mark but it would be a tone of fun. Sagly though I like the white but I know the colors were very limited

Does budget come into play here? I have a coupe of expensive vehicles I’d love to have, bit the first that comes to mind is well north of $100,000. I’ve always loved the AEV Ram Prospector XL on 40” tires, but that comes with a huge payout (hence why I’ve never bought one). That said, I can’t imagine not having my TRX in the fleet. The TRX by far has been my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. It does everything I want (other than get reasonable fuel economy). For now, I’ll stick with my TRX, but a truck on 40’s makes my inner 12 year old giggle!

I say both. What you could own and sky’s the limit you won the lottery. I’m still thinking.

No budget-where’s the fun of that. Maybe some day we should do a couple threads-favorite car between $35-$45k, $45-60k,60-75, 75-100 and then over $100K ?
