Single Touch Window Controls

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I was pondering for a moment this evening and said to myself “What is one feature that I would really like to see on the new Scouts?”. Somehow a silly answer came to me: auto up/down window switches.

I’ve had trucks with power windows. I’ve had trucks with auto down buttons for the front windows. I have never had a truck that would roll up or roll down all windows with a single touch of each switch. Why doesn’t every manufacturer do this by now? It is incredibly convenient. I love the auto down feature on my current vehicle, but it’s only for the front windows. Why not the rear? It has an auto down single-touch feature, so why not single-touch auto up feature?

If there is a way to do it, I would absolutely LOVE to see the Scouts have a feature that would allow any and all windows to be fully rolled up or down with a single touch of the corresponding window switch.

Simple, cool idea. Keep your regular electric window buttons for everyday use, but add a button front and center (ok with this one being touch screen) that retracts the cabana top and all windows go down with one push of the button. Call that button "Super Scout Mode" paying respect to the SSII open air cruise.

On Acuras you can hold the lock button (or unlock-forget) for several seconds and it lowers all the windows to vent the car before you get in. I’d like that feature too

My 2012 and 2015 Touaregs do this. Each switch on a long press / pull will lower or raise the corresponding window fully.

Absolutely, yes!! My Dad’s Accord from many, many years ago had this feature and it was very useful. I think this is another no-brainer feature that all cars and trucks should have. Thanks for bringing it up J Alynn! (y)

YES!! This ?! This is exactly what I’m talking about. Such a useful feature. I really think a great majority of owners would love having this on their Scout.

That's a lot cheaper way to drop cabin temp by 40-degrees in the summer instead of relying on the battery to run the A/C for you! I've loved this feature on past cars, but also being able to put all windows up via remote in case a storm rolls in.

Good point about all windows UP via remote as well. Agreed!

I've owned several Land Rovers, and in recent years since 2009, at least six VWs and an Audi Q7. Got to say, the fit and finish on the Touareg Luxes I've owned is actually better than the Q7 I had in the Prestige trim. All of them have really excellent, practical and thoughtful design. I hope that quite a bit of the good things from the wider VW group make their way into Scout, while still keeping Scout's very different and unique lineage in mind. I don't want a Scout Atlas, LOL, but there are things...

Agreed, it would be amazing to see Scout Motors find a way to get some of these VW Group wins into the new Scouts.
