Scout Terra, please don't let me down!!!

From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

I'm hoping too. The run to the beach would be so much nicer open-air. As would the trips to the mountains I'd like to take.
I scrolled quite a ways down the forum before I found a thread with Terra in it. Nothing about Terra's on other social media outlets. I understand Scout has to promote products that they feel are likely to sell the most of but I am getting very concerned the Terra EV is going to be a pipe dream. I also think the whole EREV for off-road type trucks is going to fail for obvious reasons. Engine placement and ccc. There i said it. Not going to cancel and hopefully SM will suprise me and help us all get off of ICE engines.
Knowing the Terra could possibly be a year later they need to prioritize what they bring to market as marketing is concerned. People are already complaining about the wait for the traveler and that’s coming first
It’s so hard not being in the popular group. I still have hope something changes and BEV goes first. And who knows with gas prices as they are maybe there will be a shift. I just keep telling myself it will be worth the wait.
I think they are talking their order book. Way more Travelers than Terras. The Terra will get built but it all comes down to how quickly they can ramp and if all the pieces come together at the right time. If the Harvester engines (or fuel tanks or something unique to Harvesters) are delayed for some reason, they will start with BEVs. If some piece for the Traveler is delayed they will start with Terras. We just won't know until we start configuring and getting VINs and delivery dates assigned.
That being said, at least around here, I think the EREV is absolute genius. The sales numbers speak for themselves. BEV sales are struggling, ICE and hybrid sales are strong. They massively increased their TAM with the Harvester.
Why do you think hybrid off road trucks will fail? If you like to go off grid, it's like having a built-in generator to run your entire camp and gas is way more portable than electrons.... 37kWh equivalent/gallon. You would have to bring a crap ton of batteries to get the equivalent power from 5 gallons of gas. Yes, you could recharge a portable battery pack with some solar panels, but a couple gas cans is way easier. Even for around town, you drive on cheap electricity all the time and then for those couple of road trips you do every year you can just gas and go.

I still have hope. I won't be ready for a new truck until 2029. What i need more then popularity is patients. I am fine with 2030 just hope they dont just bag the Terra BEV.

Valid points but just the thought of all that stinking gasoline sloping around makes me cringe. No my point is engine hanging off the back affecting towing ratings. If your not towing maybe not an issue.
I am excited to see the Terra in NC. I may not be buying one, but I can certainly appreciate how stunning she is! I told my husband we need to give the Terra the same treatment we give the Traveler and take hundreds of pictures so I have tons to post! Can’t wait!!Cyure thanks for your response. It’s great you are willing to wait for what you are committed to. And if you can wait a bit longer you get to see what breaks, gets fixed and gets improved in the Terra so that’s a win
I really don’t think the wait will be as long as people fear…. I just feel (hope) that Scout is preparing the Terra folks for the line producing Travelers for all / most of their test vehicles and maybe even the first quarter of official units. Then the factory will take a break and gear up for some level of production-on-demand…
That would be amazing. I'd love to stay with BEV. That's what I originally reserved until I switched when it became obvious the Harvester was going to be first.

As I read somewhere, there are no solutions, only trade-offs. Sure, the Harvester may drop the Terra tow rating from 10k to 7k, but that is plenty to tow my 24' boat and range is much larger with the Harvester.
Here's my BEV towing story.... A few years back I sold a motorcycle to a guy in Pennsylvania. He wanted to ship it but the sale included a bunch of spares including carbon fiber body panels and I knew they would not survive the trip. I told him if he paid my expenses I would meet him in Ohio. I hitched up my 6x10 covered trailer to my Model X Plaid and headed out. About 30 miles into the trip I started doing the math on my Wh/mile. It was doable as it was all interstate and there were enough chargers, but it was going to take forever. I turned around and swapped for my diesel WK. Made for a much more enjoyable trip.
Bottom line is that the Harvester will be a gateway drug to BEV as most people realize they don't need the engine. Then Scout gets to sell them 2 vehicles - a Harvester and then a BEV.
That's an interesting perspective. Is that the latest guess on the Terra Harvester 7,000 pound towing capacity. That's 600-750 on the tongue plus the weight of engine south of axel. Does that leave any cargo carring capacity in the bed of the truck?
Can't speak to the Terra, but that's about what I'm expecting out of the Traveler. Scout heard the uproar about the 5k tow rating and have made a number of comments on how they're doing everything they can to get it higher. Definitely curious what they come up with. If they don't get it higher and I can't reliably tow my lawnmower on an empty tandem axle trailer, I'll be pretty upset.
I did ask about that in SC. They are very aware of this topic.
I suspect a lot of people will be and their are many truck and SUV alternatives out there so I have to imagine SM realizes this
Totally speculating but my guess is the Terra Harvester will be 7,500 and the Traveler Harvester will be 6,500 or less. That should be enough for your lawn mower trailer.
