I would hope if we want the roof rack but NOT the satellite capability that would be an option, man that satellite sounds expensive??????
Same but I would imagine that satellite option is an add on.I would hope if we want the roof rack but NOT the satellite capability that would be an option, man that satellite sounds expensive??????
I don’t think the roof rack will be required. The satellite receiver needs to be mounted on top somewhere. Either to the glass roof inside or to the roof outside
That is the satellite receiver as we showed it integrated into the rack. But a stand alone receiver could be used as well without the rack. It seems most people use an aftermarket solution for vehicle mounts (suction cup, custom mounts, etc., etc.). It is too early yet to know what solutions we will offer.
There’s are so many things I want to get that I don’t need but are neat. You are speaking my language!I'd like to see permanent exterior install of the receiver but w/ the more streamlined rack. Perhaps shoot the gap between hatch opening and rear edge of cabana roof?

I certainly don't need satellite, but if the install is permanent and relatively clean then I'd probably get it just because its neat.

Have you considered working with Starlink? T-Mobile partnered with them; I wouldn't mind having service thru T-Mobile since I already own a phone thru them. That's just me of course but could be an easier way to handle it.While we can't give a lot of specifics, we are partnering with an outside company on this (we don't have our own satellites). The equipment necessary to receive satellite data will likely be part of a package that is offered. More info as we get closer to launch, but this is a pretty cool feature for those that are interested.
Welcome. There has been discussion on this but pretty sure the final provider has not been locked in. I’m sure sooner than later they will make us aware of who they are going with.Have you considered working with Starlink? They should just equip them with a satellite receiver and then we have to get a sim card from whatever cell service we use.Welcome. I’m not a phased array antenna expert (my Dad is/was to an extent) but my understanding is that these receivers have to be quite well tuned to the specific band and characteristics of a satellite. Maybe in the future there may be a generic one but there is a great deal of software/custom hardware on the receiving end to make them work. They should just equip them with a satellite receiver and then we have to get a sim card from whatever cell service we use.
So old school to use physical SIMs & be swapping out computer chips like trading cards lol But yea, service from a customer-chosen provider would be preferable to being locked to a specific provider. They should just equip them with a satellite receiver and then we have to get a sim card from whatever cell service we use.
I definitely have no desire to be associated with it in any wayI would rather smell everyone’s farts than use Starlink.
How is this different than Ford's in vehicle wifi? While we can't give a lot of specifics, we are partnering with an outside company on this (we don't have our own satellites). Doesn't Ford just use cellular networks for Wi-Fi? The advantage of satellite is you will have internet in places where there is no cell service. How is this different than Ford's in vehicle wifi?
