Scout Color Poll #1

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I’ve posted this one before but as an orange tone goes-this is one of my favorite Scouts but next to the prototype I think they are too similar but what’s anyone else’s thoughts?

Beautiful color, but too similar. I still say we need a color for every color in the rainbow. Not 4 different blues and a red. If that makes sense. We need a green and yellow and even some sort of a purple. All the colors.

I appreciate your passion. Keep advocating for what you want. I keep loudly advocating for YELLOW (a pale butter yellow) every chance I get.

I hope everyone gets the color they love.
Thanks, Cyure. I hope you get what you want also. My goal in posting is only in part to get the color I want. The other goal is that I REALLY want Scout to be wildly successful. My work (and passion) is sustainable transportation and I study the psychology of design. I've never been a "car person" before Scout but they have developed something special by brilliantly tuning into people and connection (can't wait to drive my Traveler with my dog sitting next to me on the bench seat). With the exception of the color chart presented at the beginning of this thread.

I'm concerned that the desire to harken back to "retro" will overtake their sensibility. I think there should be a line of "retro" colors, but the edgy/ hip/ nostalgic crowd will be a more limited bunch and not enough to sustain mainstream popularity. A mainstream appeal is a set of naturistic colors where the saturation is more important than the hue-- or at least as important. Although nature sometimes has brilliant sunsets and fall colors; (my husband loves the copper orange of the demo) naturalistic mostly means subtle with depth. Below is a set of muted colors I'm referring to.

Hi Susan, welcome to the Scout Community.

Our color, materials, and finish (CMF) team is a great crew that draws inspiration from some of the retro colors and explores modern versions. Back when the original Scouts were produced, automotive paints were largely single-stage, and things have evolved quite a bit since then.

The color poll attached to this particular topic was a very early poll we put together more for fun than anything. The colors you see here are not connected directly to anything we are exploring - it is more directional. I think eventually we will close this particular topic and start a new one at some point.

Meanwhile keep the feedback coming as our teams are regularly reading these topics!

I think in a way that’s what a lot of us have been wanting as well. The modern Tahitian is exactly that-SM colors team taking the original Tahitian and tweaking it for modern taste. I was out earlier running some errands and saw another cream toned Mimi cooper and again I thought that cream would be so much better than white but still give the option of a bright white roof. And yesterday I commented on sitting behind a Lucid Air and loving it. Today-sadly, I passed another Lucid Air wrapped in Flo-orange and for the life of me I don’t understand why-completely ruined the car. Sometimes I think the right shades of paint actually enhance the lines of a vehicle. I still also believe there is no need for black. Lexus offers their Caviar color ILO black and it is such an intense metallic luster flake finish and just makes the lines look great. I’m certainly not advocating for exact matches to the original colors but developing a fine metallic version or graying out a color would make the colors richer and more memorable and also help the Scouts stand out from the other SUV manufacturers

Awesome. The CMF team has hit a home run so far on the interiors!

Coincidentally, I drive a cream mini copper right now. :) It feels timeless, and I love it. My current project is studying stress factors in street design for multi-modal users, and it seems clear that for some reason Americans have undervalued the impact of color. We're a highly anxious country at this point, and we need excellent design to help us. Color is a major tool for impacting emotion.

I should clarify: for some reason, American engineers have undervalued the impact of color

I’m an architectural designer and also deal with land planning/neighborhood planning so a lot of my world deals with color as well. The psychology of color is an amazing subject and the impact it has with building and transportation along with people is so much bigger than most people realize. Your job must be fascinating

Sounds like we need to connect off-line! Yes I'm learning fascinating things about transportation as whole system, and at an international level-- so more about fundamental paradigms regarding humanity than transitory issues. My background is in psychology and I'm fascinated by how peoples emotions are impacted by design.
