I could be misremembering the timeline, but I was sure the Harvester wasn't part of the initial announcement and reveal, they only announced it after people begged for a hybrid/ICE model.what exactly does this mean? Scout came out day one in Tennessee with harvester variant on the table
Just to confirm, I went back and checked the launch eventI could be misremembering the timeline, but I was sure the Harvester wasn't part of the initial announcement and reveal, they only announced it after people begged for a hybrid/ICE model.
I have no dog in the hunt. I would be bummed too, someone will fill the void (hopefully Scout). It has to be hard to have competing factions within the 4 walls of a public company that is purely driven on unit sales. The pressures must be immense based on the market realities for Ford. There's innovation and market realities, and given the poor sales of the Lightning and GM's offerings (Silverado/Sierra EV, and the Hummer EVs), the people that want and need full-size trucks aren't being properly served by BEV options. We're now seeing it in Ford backing off BEV, and Scout backtracking to add EREV options to their line-ups.
I get it, I've driven a Lightning, owned a PowerBoost for a while, the Lightning was a great experience, and I loved the PowerBoost. I still regret getting rid of it. If Scout wasn't on the horizon I might consider a Lightning, but I'd probably go with another PowerBoost because I need the range more than I need the "joy" of driving a BEV. Most of the people I know in similar situations feel the same.
It's just a fact of the current state of things that the market for full-size BEV trucks are a tiny minority.
Was included at time of official reveal.I could be misremembering the timeline, but I was sure the Harvester wasn't part of the initial announcement and reveal, they only announced it after people begged for a hybrid/ICE model.
The Maverick EV looks unlikely this decade. Right now 2.5L Hybrid or 2.0L EcoBoost only.
Ford regularly switches up powertrains in their refreshes, sometimes adding and removing entire options. They are not "cancelling" the Lightning, they are switching it to an EREV powertrain. This in no way affects the truck you currently own and apparently love.
Because they're repeatedly referring to it as, "the next generation Lightning." Not a new truck, not a new nameplate, the next generation F-150 Lightning.how can you call it anything other than "cancelling"?
That’s fairBecause they're repeatedly referring to it as, "the next generation Lightning." Not a new truck, not a new nameplate, the next generation F-150 Lightning.

Even if they're referring to it as a next generation lightning, it doesn't make it feel any less like a product cancelation. If there will not be a full battery electric version going forward. Plus they're are shutting down production, the next gen F-150 won't require a full on shutting down for what might be a year or betterThat was not in any of the articles I read about the F150 Lightning. It seems they (and I) missed that bit int he Ford announcement. I stand corrected.

That's fair, but still we only know what Ford decides to release publicly, and unless any of us have access to their board room, we don't know why they decided to stop production so abruptly.Even if they're referring to it as a next generation lightning, it doesn't make it feel any less like a product cancelation. Ford was bleeding money on the Lightning = production stopped abruptly. That's fair, but still we only know what Ford decides to release publicly, and unless any of us have access to their board room, we don't know why they decided to stop production so abruptly.
The 38 minute mark reveal of the Harvester is why myself and many others made a Scout reservation. I have zero interest in a full EV (I’m not convinced that the charging infrastructure is there, and I’m still not comfortable with range limits and range anxiety). The Harvester allows for everybody to enjoy the day to day EV conveniences, with the ability to also “gas and go” when needed.Just to confirm, I went back and checked the launch eventif you jump to 38 minutes, the harvester is announced
