Poll: Would you use a Scout configurator tool if pricing and details are not finalized yet?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

When I am bored I play with Builder/Configurator tools on websites like Ford, Chevy, and Rivian.

In order to keep the hype and interest going, it would be awesome to be able to play around with it and experiment with different builds.

Slate has a pretty fun one on their website and they still arent taking orders or providing pricing yet.

Scout could start with some basic things they know are already decided/confirmed and add other things as time goes on.

What do yall think?

Tried Porsche configurator many times … (emoji search turns up nothing for “wistful”)

I'd like that as long as everything on it is finalized. It would be disappointing if something was on a configurator that didn't make it to final production if it was something I was looking forward to.
I did give an option for that. You may want to change your vote.

Edit: Wait i think I get what you are saying. IF something is added you want it to be finalized.
I doubt we would get that kind of absolute guarantee so far out. It would be tentative at best.

Yeah, I'd like it available before anything is finalized, but I don't want them to have an option on the configurator that might not be available come release, something like that I'd rather just leave off and then be surprised when it's there come the actual release.

Okay so what if we had a log in and could save all our visualizer builds and then when the configuration tool became live it would flip over to that and the prices would automatically populate.
Love the idea I’ve the configuration tool but to echo others I would want some options shown finalized like color, interior trim etc.

Also can’t wait to build too many different versions and get the “We’re sorry you have reached the maximum number of saved configurations.” message! 🤣

That’s my major concern as well and probably SM hesitation. Heaven forbid I bring up Scott mentioning an unknown final tow weight and the forum went nuts. This seems like another opportunity to frustrate potential buyers-even though I would enjoy it. If nothing else, a new color poll and maybe a bunch of REAL color samples for us to vote on to give them better ideas what the community is interested in?

We have talked about a "Visualizer" tool to play with ahead of an actual Configurator as that would imply trim and features locked in.
Yes please! I’ve built lots of Broncos and Cayennes in my spare time.

I suppose you’d have to plaster “THESE COLORS MAY NOT BE FINAL” everywhere but a broad color selection to play with would be fun.

Maybe ability for reservation holders to log in and submit specs they like (limit it to 2 or 3 max per person) to help gather market data? Basic options like offroad package, luxury package, roof style, etc. Or include some wheel renders to judge the response to each.

Reminds me of the survey some R2 reservation holders were sent a year ago where they got to choose what configurations they really liked....which of course gave Rivian some valuable information on customer preferences. That was a little more basic though and focused specifically on motor count, RWD/AWD, range, and corresponding price brackets.

Expectations are the thief of joy.

If they are clearly set upfront, it’s on you if you get upset.

So I won’t be looking for a tow rating sticker on the configurator 😂
Well said! I just hope it would function well. I’ve tried using Toyota’s several times and the thing is just brain dead. It takes forever for a screen refresh and doesn’t remember selections in a current session. Plus the only interior option on any T. PU seems to be black. ICK! I love my two Toyotas (one a hybrid) and would strongly consider a PU or SUV. But I’m not buying a black interior… Period!

Same, no black interior for me. Just based on the concepts and the fact that the vintage Scouts had different color interiors with plaid even, I would bet we get some great options, not just black.
