Optional 2nd Row Captain Chairs

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Joined the community / forum today just for this. Second row captains chairs would be a great option. Considering all points already made. For teens and adults, the captains chairs are a must, especially if they fold flat. Area between the seats is great for storage...we usually place a small cooler between, etc. in our Tahoe.

The comfort and convenience factor of captains seats makes a big difference.

Please Scout...make this an option!

Welcome aboard and glad you posted your thoughts. I’m a fan of captains seats in second row too as our past couple SUVs have had them.

How many two row SUVs have captains chairs? I know plenty of three row SUVs do, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a two row with captain's chairs.
I'm not sure. I don't think we've ever used our 3rd row...only the second row buckets.

Second row captains chairs are for minivans. ;)

I’d love a Scout minivan with 10 inches of clearance and 33” ATs.

My 19 Acura MDX has 2nd row cpt chairs with a center console and a 3rd row for 2 small kids (max of 6 positions). I would go for the front/rear bench for the Scout SUV if the center seat back could fold down with cup holders, padded arm rests on the edges, and extra storage (maybe extra USB). That would be the best of both worlds of having bench seating for 6 and cpt chairs for 4 as needed.

I really like the ideal of front bench and having my wife sit beside me like the good ol' days when front bench seats were a thing for vehicles in the 70s/80s.

There will be a center console that folds down, we just haven’t seen it yet.

Will have some variation of that for sure. The nice thing with MDX and captains was that 20% open space so you could still fit 2 rear passengers and put gear or kids crap or a Home Depot haul between the seats. I hope the rear bench has a 40/20/40 (European approach) split upper for added flexibility. I don’t like the American/Japanese approach of just 60/40. Allows only one rear passenger

The only bad thing about the +22 MDX center seat is there are not any inside arm rests if the center seat is removed. I wouldn't complain one bit if the bench seat or center console was plug-n-play to swap out in under a minute if someone wanted to reconfigure as needed at home. Acura MDX is already 90% there with being able to remove the center seat in under 30 seconds. Just add a center console you can install if you wanted true cpt. chairs instead.

Forgot about the missing arm rests
